Kicking off Songkran with a GoFundMe. Right now, food is our biggest funding gap.

At FRP, women (and kids) arrive with nothing. We provide safety, counseling, and a place to rebuild, and food is our biggest shelter budget need.

At our shelter, healing sometimes begins with something simple — a needle, thread, and a piece of paper. :)

One of the moms shared:

“During my first week at the shelter, I felt overwhelmed thinking about my future and my children. I didn’t know what would happen next.

When I started learning to make hand-embroidered cards, something slowly changed. As I focused on each stitch, my mind became calmer. The stress began to feel lighter. Stitching gave me small moments of peace and happiness.

My favorite design is the elephant with the sun, because I hope my life will become bright and sunny again. With the money I earned, I was able to buy a small gift for my children, get a new phone, and even treat myself to getting my hair done. These small things helped me feel confident and strong again.

Thank you to everyone who buys our cards. You are not just buying a card — you are helping us rebuild our confidence and hope.”

International Women’s Day always makes us think about the women we have the privilege to work with every day.

We see their courage every day—women who keep going, who rebuild, who support each other, and who refuse to give up even when life is hard. The mothers, the sisters, the friends, the migrant women rebuilding their lives and supporting each other along the way.

Your strength may not always be loud, but it is powerful and it matters.

Today we celebrate all the women—the ones we work with, the ones in our communities, and the ones in our lives.

Happy International Women’s Day. 💜

“Before joining the Family Strengthening Program, I didn’t realize how much stress I was bringing home. After work, I was already tired and tense. If dinner wasn’t ready, small disagreements with my wife could turn into long arguments. I talked back without thinking, and our home felt heavy.

Through the program, I learned simple tools — especially how to pause and breathe before reacting.

Now, when I feel anger rising, I step away and take slow breaths. Many arguments stop before they grow. I still feel frustrated sometimes, but I am learning to respond differently. “
We are grateful to be part of their journey.❤️

Every Valentine’s Day, we usually write a special note on a card for each mom—both the shelter moms and those in the peer support group. This year, we did things a little differently. Instead, they wrote notes to each other—words of love, gratitude, and encouragement, from one woman to another.

There were many tears in the room, but they were the kind that come from feeling truly seen and cared for. It was so encouraging to watch these women lift each other up and remind one another of their strength.

This is what healing looks like—not walking alone, but walking together. 📷 Thongking 🙏🏼

A moment from today.

“Today, I drove past two mothers. One is still living in our shelter. The other moved out about a year and a half ago. They were both riding bicycles, each with a child sitting in the back. They didn’t see me as I passed. But I noticed their smiles. Soft. Real. Free.

What stayed with me wasn’t just the image, but the feeling that followed.
It was a quiet reminder that support does not end at the shelter gate. The relationships continue. The sense of community continues. Beyond the program, and into everyday life.

Moments like this remind us why this work matters. Impact is not always loud or visible.
