Today, we’re celebrating the moms at FRP 💛
Some of them walked away from everything to keep their kids safe. Some are still healing, even while showing up every single day as a parent. All of them are proving that you can be strong and soft at the same time — that healing and mothering can happen together.
To every mom in our shelter, and every mom reading this: we see you. Happy Thai Mother’s Day.❤️

Say hello to the newest members of the FRP family — 100 hens! 😛🐔This is part of our income generation program for the moms at our shelter — but it’s about so much more than eggs. It’s moms learning something new, taking ownership of a project that’s theirs, and slowly finding that sense of confidence and control that trauma tends to take away. Healing looks different for everyone. Sometimes it looks like feeding chickens.🙏🏼❤️

One of the mothers at our shelter shared:

“I’m proud of learning to make handmade cards. But I’m even prouder of who I’ve become.

I used to get angry fast. If my kids fought with other children, I’d end up arguing with their parents too. Through one-on-one counseling with my case worker, I learned to pause, stay calm, and work through problems instead of fighting.

That change made me a better mother — and I carry it with me every day. “

Healing isn’t loud. It’s showing up, one calm moment at a time. Grateful to walk this with her. ❤️

“I used to plan my whole day around fear.
Which route has fewer checkpoints. Whether it’s safe to take my child to the clinic. What I’d do if the police stopped me. As an undocumented migrant woman on the Thailand-Myanma border, you learn to stay small and invisible. Desperate to change that, years ago I paid someone to help me get legal papers. Instead, he took my money and disappeared. After that, I told myself: stop hoping.
When FRP offered to try again, I was terrified of another disappointment. But I was just so tired of living like a shadow.
Today, I have my pink card, and my work permit is coming soon. I can finally live and work here without fear. When I held it for the first time, I felt like a new person. I am not a shadow anymore.”
We are so incredibly proud of this mom from our shelter. What moves us most isn’t just the paperwork—it’s that she chose to trust again, and her hope has been restored.
That is why FRP exists. 🤍

Thank you to the German Embassy in Thailand for sharing our work — and for seeing what we see every single day. 🙏🏼
Women and children who have been through so much. Who didn’t come to us looking for anything extraordinary. Just safety. Just a place that welcomes them, where they can truly be themselves.
Our three shelter houses in Mae Sot aren’t perfect. But to the women staying here, we hope it’s a place they can call home for a while.
That’s all we’ve ever wanted for them. 💙

สถานทูตมีความยินดีที่ได้ร่วมมือกับองค์กรไม่แสวงหากำไร Freedom Restoration Project ในการปรับปรุงบ้านพักฉุกเฉิน 3 หลัง ในแม่สอดใหม่ทั้งหมด เพื่อให้ผู้หญิงและเด็กได้อยู่อาศัยอย่างปลอดภัยและมีศักดิ์ศรี องค์กรนี้ไม่เพียงให้การสนับสนุนที่พักปลอดภัย แต่ยังจัดโครงการเสริมทักษะสำหรับผู้หญิงและเด็กที่ได้รับผลกระทบจากความรุนแรงอีกด้วย

ผู้ที่เข้าร่วมโครงการไม่เพียงมีความปลอดภัยมากขึ้น แต่ยังมีความมั่นใจและทักษะในการดำเนินชีวิต พร้อมก้าวสู่อนาคตที่อิสระและปลอดความรุนแรงสำหรับตนเองและครอบครัว
🏠Women and children affected by displacement are particularly vulnerable to domestic violence and deserve special support.

We are happy to share that together with Restauration Project, three shelter houses around Mae Sot have been fully renovated to ensure safe and dignified living conditions for multiple women and children. Freedom Restoration Project provides safe housing and empowerment programs for women and children survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).

Through this project, we are proud to support survivors of gender-based violence by
✔️ providing immediate protection through secure housing and long-term empowerment through skill training
✔️ improving their well-being and capacity to rebuild their lives
✔️ giving access to safe and dignified living conditions

Survivors will leave FRP not only safer but also more confident, skilled, and equipped to build independent, violence-free futures for themselves and their children.
