เมื่อวันที่ 5 กันยายน 2569 ที่ผ่านมา ล้านนาด็อกเวลแฟร์ได้กลับมาทำหมันที่เทศบาลตำบลหนองจ๊อมเป็นรอบที่สามของปีนี้ เรามาทำหมันที่นี่หลายครั้งตลอดหลายปีที่ผ่านมา จนตอนนี้ผู้คนในพื้นที่หลายคนรู้สึกเหมือนเป็นเพื่อนเก่ากันไปแล้ว การมาแต่ละครั้งมักจะมีทั้งรอยยิ้มจากผู้คนคุ้นหน้าและใบหน้าใหม่ๆ พร้อมกับบรรยากาศความอบอุ่นและสัมผัสได้ถึงความร่วมมืออันแข็งแกร่งของคนในชุมชนอยู่เสมอ
ในรอบนี้มีสุนัขและแมวลงทะเบียนทั้งหมด 38 ตัว และทำหมันไป 30 ตัว มีแมวจรตัวหนึ่งที่ป่วย เป็นหวัดและมีไข้ ไม่พร้อมสำหรับการทำหมัน และมีอีกตัวที่พังกรงและเปิดฝาหนีออกไปได้อย่างมุ่งมั่น ส่วนสัตว์ที่เหลืออีกเล็กน้อยไม่ได้มาทำหมันเนื่องจากเจ้าของป่วยหรือติดปัญหาไม่มีรถพามาส่ง
มีเรื่องหนึ่งที่ทำให้พวกเรายิ้มได้ทุกทีเวลาไปทำงานตามชุมชนต่างๆ คือการที่สุนัขและแมวในเมืองไทยมักถูกตั้งชื่อตามสีของตัวเอง เช่น ดำ แดง ทอง ขาว เทา และส้ม ซึ่งเป็นชื่อยอดฮิต แถมบางพื้นที่บางทียังมาเป็นสีเดียวกันเป็นแก็งส์โดยบังเอิญอีกต่างหาก อย่างที่หนองจ๊อมรอบนี้ ดูเหมือนว่าจะรายล้อมไปด้วยแมวส้มเต็มไปหมด แถมหลายตัวยังชื่อ "ส้ม" หรือชื่อที่พ้องเสียงกันด้วย ฟังดูน่ารักดี จนกระทั่งถึงเวลาที่แมวส้มหน้าตาคล้ายๆ กันหลายตัวมารอผ่าตัดพร้อมๆ กัน เลยต้องช่วยกันเช็กให้ดีเป็นพิเศษ ว่า "ส้ม" ตัวไหนจะต้องกลับบ้านให้ถูกกับครอบครัว!
ทีมล้านนาด็อกขอขอบคุณคุณชัชวาล เล็กธำรง นายกเทศมนตรีตำบลหนองจ๊อม เป็นอย่างยิ่ง ที่สนับสนุนงบประมาณสำหรับการจัดทำหมันทั้ง 3 ครั้ง และยังคงสนับสนุนงานด้านสวัสดิภาพสัตว์ในชุมชนอย่างต่อเนื่อง พร้อมกันนี้ขอขอบคุณคุณสิริพร ณ เชียงใหม่ คุณ ภัคนิตย์ เสนีวงศ์ และเจ้าหน้าที่กองสาธารณสุขและสิ่งแวดล้อมทุกคน ที่ช่วยกันวางแผน ลงทะเบียน เตรียมสถานที่ และดูแลความเรียบร้อยเพื่อให้ทุกอย่างดำเนินไปอย่างราบรื่นและปลอดภัยทั้งคนและสัตว์ และขอขอบคุณปลัดองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลสบเปิงสำหรับเงาะสบเปิงสดๆ ที่นำมาฝาก เป็นของว่างที่ชื่นใจมากๆ ในวันที่งานยุ่งนี้
การทำหมันทุกๆ ครั้งช่วยลดจำนวนสัตว์จรจัดที่ไม่พึงประสงค์ และสร้างสุขภาพที่ดีให้กับสัตว์และชุมชน ขอบคุณทุกคนที่มีส่วนร่วมทำให้กิจกรรมในวันนี้เกิดขึ้นได้ และขอบคุณเพื่อนๆ ที่หนองจ๊อมที่ต้อนรับพวกเราด้วยความอบอุ่นเสมอมา
On 5 September, Lanna Dog Welfare returned to Nong Chom Municipality for our third sterilisation round there this year. We have visited Nong Chom many times over the years and, by now, so many of the people there feel like old friends. Each visit brings a lovely mix of familiar and new faces and there is always such a strong sense of community spirit.
A total of 38 animals were registered and 30 cats and dogs were successfully sterilised. One stray cat was too unwell for surgery, while another made a rather determined escape by breaking out of her cage. A few other registered animals were unable to attend because their owners were unwell or had transport difficulties.
One thing that always makes us smile when we work in different communities is how often cats and dogs in Thailand are named after their colour. Black, red, gold, white, grey and orange are all very common themes, and somehow certain colours seem to gather in certain places too. At Nong Chom this time, we seemed to be surrounded by orange cats, and quite a few of them were called Som, or some variation of it, after the Thai word for orange. It is very sweet until several orange cats with very similar names are all waiting for surgery at the same time and everyone has to be especially careful that the right Som goes home with the right family!
We are very grateful to Khun Chatchawan, the Mayor of Nong Chom Municipality, for providing the budget for three sterilisation events and for continuing to support animal welfare in his community. Our thanks also go to Khun Siriporn, Khun Pakanit and all the staff from the Health and Environment Office for their planning, registration, preparation of the venue and care in helping everything run safely and smoothly for both animals and owners. And a special thank you to the Sob Perng, Chief administrator of the SAO for bringing local rambutan for all the staff, a very welcome treat during a busy day.
Every sterilisation helps reduce unwanted litters and supports healthier animals and communities. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible, and to our friends at Nong Chom for always making us feel so welcome.
