GNSC (previously CMARC) is a collective of people in chiang mai driven to work towards a more equal and just world through education, ongoing critical analysis, community building, the arts, wealth redistribution, fundraising, and network building. More information: Good Neighbors Solidarity Collective (GNSC) is a collective of people based in Chiang Mai, Thailand who are driven to work towards a
more loving, just, and equal world. To create this world, we aim to foster greater collective understanding of existing oppressions and injustices. To this end, we respect the cultural, historical, and political underpinnings and repercussions in Southeast Asia and beyond. We believe that in organizing society and economy, the equitable distribution of wealth, power, and resources among all people is essential. We understand that liberation means addressing the historic injustices caused by racial capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism. We acknowledge the intersection of various oppressions and work towards the liberation of women, people with minority gender identities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people, Black and Brown people, people in the Global South, Indigenous peoples, and the poor and working class. Capitalism has also led to the exploitation of natural resources, mass extinction, death, and displacement of local and indigenous communities. Therefore, climate justice must be an integral part of our politics and our actions. GNSC started as a group of predominantly foreigners living in Chiang Mai (previously called CMARC). We understand our role in change-making through education, ongoing critical analysis, community building, the arts, wealth redistribution, fundraising, and network building. We believe in international solidarity, rooted in informed local community-based action that centers the lived experiences of the global majority. Our existing social structures are what perpetuate white supremacy and deny our innate worthiness as human beings. Therefore, we believe that our liberation and wellness as a collective society needs to be based in an anti-capitalist and decolonised world. We hold Love, Self-Determination and Informed Action at the heart of our service.
