Hearing the Voice of Absence — สดับเสียงที่ขาดหาย คือโปรแกรมภาพยนตร์ที่มุ่งสำรวจความสัมพันธ์ระหว่าง “เสียง” และ “พื้นที่” ซึ่งถูกทำให้พร่าเลือนไปตามการไหลผ่านของเวลา ตลอดจนถูกสึกกร่อนโดยโครงสร้างอำนาจที่กำหนดว่าสิ่งใดควรได้รับการบันทึกและจดจำ และสิ่งใดควรถูกปล่อยให้เลือนหาย โปรแกรมคัดสรรภาพยนตร์ไทยและญี่ปุ่นจำนวน 8 เรื่อง ซึ่งนำเสนอภูมิทัศน์ วัตถุ และร่างกายในฐานะพื้นที่กักเก็บร่องรอยของความทรงจำ ร่องรอยเหล่านี้นำไปสู่กระบวนการรื้อฟื้น เรียบเรียง และประกอบสร้างเรื่องเล่าขึ้นใหม่ผ่านเครื่องมือของภาพเคลื่อนไหว โดยภาพยนตร์ทั้งหมดแบ่งออกเป็น 3 โปรแกรมย่อย
ภาพยนตร์แต่ละเรื่องใน Hearing the Voice of Absence — สดับเสียงที่ขาดหาย สะท้อนความพยายามของมนุษย์ในการต่อสู้เพื่อยืนยันศักดิ์ศรีและคุณค่าของการมีชีวิตอยู่ ผ่านเรื่องราวทั้งในระดับปัจเจกและชุมชน ตลอดจนเสียงสะท้อนจากประวัติศาสตร์การเมืองร่วมสมัย โดยนำเสนอผ่านรูปแบบที่หลากหลาย ตั้งแต่ภาพยนตร์สารคดี บันทึกและคำบอกเล่าส่วนบุคคล ไปจนถึงภาพยนตร์ทดลอง

Hearing the Voice of Absence is a film programme exploring the relationship between “voices” and “spaces” that have gradually been obscured by the passage of time and eroded by structures of power that determine what should be recorded and remembered—and what should be allowed to disappear. Bringing together eight films from Thailand and Japan, the programme considers landscapes, objects, and bodies as sites that retain traces of memory. These traces initiate processes of recovery, rearrangement, and reconstruction, allowing alternative narratives to emerge through the medium of moving images. The eight films are presented across three thematic programmes.
Each film in Hearing the Voice of Absence reflects human efforts to struggle for and affirm the dignity and value of being alive. Moving between individual and collective experiences, as well as echoes of contemporary political history, the programme brings together a range of cinematic forms—from documentary and personal testimony to experimental cinema.
Hearing the Voice of Absence is supported by The Japan Foundation, Bangkok, as part of An Open Draft – Asia Film Programmers Lab #2, organised by The Japan Foundation.

curator and programme designer from Dude, Movie, and Gohei Miyoshi of Asian Film Joint, co-programmer of Hearing the Voice of Absence. The conversation will explore the programme’s curatorial and programming processes—from its initial ideas and development to the ways in which those ideas evolved into the final film programme.
Note: The conversation will be conducted in Thai and Japanese, with Japanese-to-Thai interpretation.
