Sexual violence in conflict is never "collateral damage." It is a deliberate, highly calculated weapon of war used to terrorize communities, enforce displacement, and fracture the social fabric.

As we observe the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, Equal Asia Foundation calls for an urgent expansion of how the international community defines, tracks, and prosecutes conflict-related s*xual violence (CRSV).

Too often, global frameworks rely on rigid binaries that erase the full spectrum of survivors. In conflict and crisis zones across Asia and the Pacific, marginalized women, adolescent girls, s*x workers, and LGBTQIA+ individuals are targeted with precise, identity-based violence that remains dangerously underreported and structurally ignored. For q***r, trans, and non-binary individuals, reporting this violence to local authorities or camp administrators can mean facing secondary criminalization rather than protection.

True accountability means a strictly survivor-centered approach. We must fund local, ground-level organizations that provide safe, non-discriminatory legal aid, trauma-informed psychological support, and comprehensive s*xual and reproductive healthcare.

Justice is not achieved until documentation and protection mechanisms include every survivor, without exception.🕊️

The findings of our Gender Equality in Foreign Policy Index reinforce a broader lesson that many feminist organizers have been naming for some time: we cannot afford to keep treating gender equality as a parallel track while the rules that govern debt, tax, militarization, trade, labor, migration, and climate finance are negotiated elsewhere.

If those systems remain intact, gender equality commitments will continue to be partial, vulnerable, and easy to reverse.

To be autistic in a world built for conformity is an act of quiet, radical resistance.

On , we move past the medicalized model of "awareness" and step firmly into the celebration of neurodivergent sovereignty. Autistic individuals are not problems to be solved, cured, or managed—they are vital, brilliant threads in the fabric of human diversity.

Collective narratives across Asia often demand strict adherence to social hierarchy, rigid communication codes, and uniform performance. For autistic people, navigating these cultural expectations while processing an intense, deeply felt world can lead to immense pressure and forced erasure.

True solidarity means deconstructing these rigid expectations. It means unlearning the neurotypical standards of how a person "should" speak, connect, work, or express emotion, and making room for alternative ways of experiencing our reality.

Today, and every day, Equal Asia Foundation honors the autonomy, unique perspectives, and profound contributions of autistic people across Asia. We celebrate the joy, the deep focus, the unique connections, and the unmasked truths of neurodivergent lives.

Tomorrow is . The Equal Asia Foundation celebrates the neurodivergent communities who shape, challenge, and enrich our societies. But pride cannot exist without an intersectional lens.

For too long, institutional frameworks and diagnostic criteria have been built around narrow, Western, and cis-masculine data. In Asia, this leaves autistic women, trans and non-binary individuals, s*x workers, and LGBTQIA+ communities facing a double or triple burden of marginalization. They are frequently misdiagnosed, denied accommodating care, or forced to mask their true selves to survive in hostile social and economic systems.

True inclusion is not about asking autistic individuals to modify their behavior to fit a neurotypical world. It is about fundamentally transforming our policies, workplaces, healthcare systems, and advocacy spaces to ensure they are accessible, affirming, and safe by design.

We stand in solidarity with neurodivergent self-advocates across the region who are demanding bodily autonomy, legal recognition, and the right to exist exactly as they are.

Today is Domestic Worker's Day.

On the 16th of June, the International Labour Organization and its partners celebrate the anniversary of the adoption of the Domestic Workers Convention, 2011 (No, 189). The historic event marks the first time that domestic work was recognized as real work, which is why the 16th of June has become known as Domestic Workers' Day.

Over 75 million domestic workers support the fabric of our homes and communities around the world. As care needs rise, the contributions to care are more essential than ever – with 2.3 billion people are expected to require care services by 2030. Yet many domestic workers remain unprotected or are still invisible in labor policies. Because over 80% work informally, domestic workers lack access to social protection or job security.

World Blood Donor Day falls on June 14. It is historically celebrated as a day of global altruism, yet it hides a dark history of institutionalized discrimination.

For decades, blanket lifetime bans or long, arbitrary "deferral periods" have prohibited men who have s*x with men (MSM), transgender individuals, and s*x workers from donating life-saving blood, regardless of their actual, individual health status or safe s*x practices.

While some Western nations (like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia) have recently shifted toward Individual Donor Assessments (assessing risk based on behavior, not identity), many countries across Asia still enforce outdated, deeply homophobic, and stigmatizing blanket bans.

Blanket bans on LGBTQIA+ individuals and s*x workers from donating blood are rooted in moral panic and outdated 1980s science—not modern medicine. Today’s highly sensitive nucleic acid testing (NAT) can detect viruses like HIV within days of exposure. Excluding safe, healthy donors based purely on their identity hurts the healthcare system and reinforces toxic social stigmas.
