Green Inspire | จากเศษไม้สู่ "บ้านชันโรง" แกะสลักพะยูนและโลมา เมื่อธรรมชาติสร้างแรงบันดาลใจ🐬🪵
"เมื่อก่อนถ้าอยากได้น้ำผึ้งชันโรง ก็ต้องเข้าป่าไปตามหา"
นี่คือจุดเริ่มต้นของ เด๊ะหมาน ชาวบ้านเกาะศรีบอยา ผู้ที่วันนี้ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงผู้เลี้ยงชันโรง แต่ยังต่อยอดบ้านชันโรงให้กลายเป็นงานแกะสลักที่สะท้อนอัตลักษณ์ของท้องถิ่น
เดิมทีเด๊ะหมานรู้จักน้ำผึ้งชันโรงในฐานะสมุนไพรธรรมชาติที่คนในชุมชนเชื่อว่ามีคุณประโยชน์ต่อสุขภาพ แต่การจะได้น้ำผึ้งแต่ละครั้งต้องอาศัยการเดินเข้าป่าเพื่อค้นหารังตามธรรมชาติ กระทั่งวันหนึ่งได้ทราบข่าวว่ามีการอบรมการเลี้ยงชันโรง จึงตัดสินใจเข้าร่วมด้วยความสนใจ
"พอได้ไปเรียน ก็รู้ว่าชันโรงสามารถเลี้ยงเป็นฟาร์มได้ ไม่จำเป็นต้องเข้าป่าไปหารังเหมือนเมื่อก่อน ยิ่งเรียนก็ยิ่งสนุก เลยอยากลองทำจริง"
มีอยู่วันหนึ่ง เด๊ะหมานมีโอกาสไปช่วยเพื่อนสร้างบ้าน และเห็นว่ามีเศษกิ่งไม้จำนวนหนึ่งเหลือจากการสร้างบ้าน เมื่อสังเกตรูปร่างของไม้แต่ละชิ้น ก็พบว่าบางชิ้นมีลักษณะคล้ายปลา จึงทดลองแกะสลักเป็นรูปปลา ก่อนจะพัฒนาต่อยอดเป็นรูปพะยูนและโลมา สัตว์ทะเลหายากที่พบได้ในพื้นที่หมู่เกาะศรีบอยา
"ทะเลบ้านเรามีพะยูน มีโลมา เคยเห็นด้วยตาตัวเอง ก็เลยอยากเอาสัตว์ที่เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของบ้านเรามาอยู่บนกล่องเลี้ยงชันโรง"
นอกจากความสวยงามที่สามารถนำไปประดับตกแต่งบ้านได้แล้ว ชันโรงก็เริ่มเข้ามาอาศัยอยู่ในกล่องรังรูปทรงต่าง ๆ ที่แกะสลักด้วย เด๊ะหมานดีใจมาก และรู้สึกอยากชวนเพื่อน ๆ ในชุมชนมาแกะสลักใส่ความคิดสร้างสรรค์ไปด้วยกัน
จากเศษไม้ที่อาจถูกทิ้ง กลายเป็นผลงานฝีมือที่มีเอกลักษณ์ สะท้อนทั้งความคิดสร้างสรรค์ ความผูกพันกับธรรมชาติ และความภาคภูมิใจในทรัพยากรท้องถิ่น ขณะเดียวกัน การเลี้ยงชันโรงยังช่วยส่งเสริมการผสมเกสรของพืช เพิ่มความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของระบบนิเวศ และสร้างรายได้ทางเลือกให้กับชุมชน
เรื่องราวของเด๊ะหมานแสดงให้เห็นว่า "Green Job" ไม่ได้หมายถึงเพียงอาชีพที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม แต่ยังเกิดจากการเรียนรู้ เปิดรับโอกาสใหม่ และการต่อยอดทรัพยากรที่มีอยู่รอบตัวให้เกิดคุณค่า ทั้งต่อผู้คน ชุมชน และธรรมชาติ
เพราะบางครั้ง...แรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างอาชีพสีเขียว ก็เริ่มต้นจากเศษไม้ชิ้นเล็ก ๆ และความตั้งใจที่จะสร้างบางสิ่งให้กับบ้านของตัวเอง
Green Inspire | From Scrap Wood to Stingless Bee Homes Carved into Dugongs and Dolphins — When Nature Inspires Creativity 🐬🪵
“In the past, if we wanted stingless bee honey, we had to walk into the forest to search for wild nests.”
This is where the journey of Deh Man, a resident of Koh Sriboya, began. Today, he is not only a stingless bee keeper but also an artisan who transforms bee boxes into handcrafted sculptures that reflect the unique identity of his coastal community.
At first, Deh Man knew stingless bee honey as a traditional natural remedy valued by local people for its health benefits. However, collecting the honey meant venturing deep into the forest to find wild nests. Everything changed when he heard about a stingless beekeeping training program and decided to join out of curiosity.
“After attending the training, I realized that stingless bees can be farmed. We no longer have to search for wild nests in the forest like we used to. The more I learned, the more I enjoyed it, so I wanted to try raising them myself.”
One day, while helping a friend build a house, Deh Man noticed a pile of leftover tree branches and wood scraps. Looking closely, he realized that some pieces naturally resembled fish. He began carving them into fish-shaped decorations, and later expanded his creations into dugongs and dolphins—two iconic marine animals that can still be found around the Koh Sriboya archipelago.
“Our sea is home to dugongs and dolphins. I’ve seen them with my own eyes, so I wanted to place the animals that symbolize our home on the stingless bee boxes.”
Beyond their artistic appeal as decorative pieces, the carved boxes soon became real homes for stingless bees. Seeing the bees settle into the uniquely shaped nests brought Deh Man great joy and inspired him to encourage others in the community to express their own creativity through wood carving as well.
What might once have been discarded as waste has been transformed into distinctive handcrafted works that celebrate creativity, a deep connection with nature, and pride in local natural heritage. At the same time, stingless beekeeping supports the pollination of plants, strengthens local ecosystems, and provides an alternative source of income for the community.
Deh Man’s story reminds us that a Green Job is more than simply an environmentally friendly occupation. It is about learning, embracing new opportunities, and turning the resources around us into something meaningful—for people, communities, and nature alike.
Because sometimes, the inspiration for a green career begins with nothing more than a small piece of scrap wood and the determination to create something meaningful for the place we call home.
