Directed by Martin McDonagh, this Irish comedy-drama is set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland in 1923. It tells the story of Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson), two lifelong friends whose relationship comes to an abrupt end when Colm suddenly decides he no longer wants to speak to Pádraic.

As Pádraic tries to make sense of the situation and repair their friendship, events begin to escalate in unexpected ways. The film gently explores themes of friendship, loneliness, pride, and the search for meaning, all set against the backdrop of the Irish Civil War.

The Banshees of Inisherin was widely praised for its writing, cinematography, and performances. It received 9 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and both Supporting categories, making it one of the most celebrated films of 2022.

Kneecap is a 2024 comedy-drama film that depicts the rise of Kneecap, an Irish hip-hop trio from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The film stars the band members as themselves, with Josie Walker, Fionnuala Flaherty, Jessica Reynolds, Adam Best, Simone Kirby, and Michael Fassbender in supporting roles.

The film had its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. It was the first-ever Irish-language film to screen at the festival, and it won the NEXT Audience Award.

It later premiered in Ireland at the 36th Galway Film Fleadh, where it received multiple honors: Best Irish Film, the Audience Award, and the Irish Language Feature Film Award.

It was also Ireland’s official entry for the International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards, and was shortlisted for a potential nomination by the Academy.

Thailand – Ireland Forum: Advancing Technology & Digital Partnership 🇹🇭 🇮🇪

The Embassy of Ireland in Bangkok, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, hosted the Thailand–Ireland Forum on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, at the Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel.

The Forum brought together experts from both countries to share perspectives on digital ecosystems, workforce development, and Thailand’s role as ASEAN’s digital and technology hub.

It was wonderful to see ITCC represented in the programme, with Dr Hugh O’Connell, Managing Director of ICDL Thailand, a long-standing valued ITCC member, delivering a keynote presentation, and Mr Paul Scales, ITCC Vice President, joining the panel discussion alongside distinguished speakers from Ireland, Thailand, and the EU Delegation.

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and Ireland, you are warmly invited to attend the Thailand–Ireland Forum: Advancing Technology and Digital Partnership, hosted by the Embassy of Ireland in Bangkok, in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.
