On 12 June 2026, EABC representatives participated in the OCS Symposium 2026, held under the theme “Strengthening Thailand’s Resilience: Law Reform in an Era of Global Paradigm Shifts” at Grand Centre Point Lumphini.

The event brought together leading international legal experts, policymakers, and senior Thai executives to explore the future of legal and regulatory development in Thailand. In his opening remarks, Mr. Jintapun Thangsubut, Director of the Legal Development Division, emphasised the importance of learning from global best practices and strengthening international cooperation to support Thailand’s legal modernisation agenda and pathway toward OECD membership. Highlighted the need for a transparent, responsive, and future-ready regulatory framework to help Thailand adapt to an increasingly complex global environment. A strong legal and regulatory foundation was identified as a key driver of the country’s long-term competitiveness and resilience.

Building on this theme, Thailand Trade Representative Mr. Werapong Prapha outlined three interconnected priorities for Thailand’s future positioning amid global transformation: strengthening strategic partnerships, advancing regulatory reform, and enhancing supply chain resilience. Highlighting that effective regulatory reform will serve as a key enabler of these priorities, helping Thailand maximise the benefits of existing and ongoing free trade agreements—including the ongoing EU–Thailand Free Trade Agreement negotiations—and broader international partnerships, while improving the ease of doing business and strengthening investor confidence. Together, these interconnected priorities will be critical in positioning Thailand to navigate global transformations, enhance its competitiveness, and sustain long-term economic growth.

EABC looks forward to supporting these important initiatives and contributing to efforts that enhance Thailand’s attractiveness as a destination for trade and investment.

On 12 June 2026, EABC representatives attended the Prime Minister’s Address Luncheon 2026, “Thailand 2026: A Vision for Competitiveness, Investment, and Future Readiness. From Uncertainty to Confidence: Reform and Resilience in Business”, held at The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok.

In his keynote address, H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand outlined the Government’s vision to strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness through regulatory reform, improved ease of doing business, investment in future industries, workforce development, and deeper integration with the global economy.

A key takeaway from the speech was the emphasis on trust, predictability, and resilience as essential drivers of long-term investment. He also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to advancing high-standard trade agreements, including the EU–Thailand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and highlighted Thailand’s OECD accession process as an important catalyst for enhancing regulatory standards, transparency, and international competitiveness.

These initiatives reflect Thailand’s ambition to position itself as a trusted investment destination and a leading gateway connecting ASEAN with global markets.

EABC looks forward to supporting these important initiatives to enhance Thailand’s attractiveness as a destination for trade and investment.

The EBOWN Global Business Sentiment Report 2026 is the network’s flagship annual publication — a comprehensive, informed, and ground-level assessment of the conditions faced by European businesses operating across all six EBOWN regions, with a focus on the economic, regulatory, geopolitical, and structural factors shaping the business environment in each market. Drawing on direct contributions from EBO member organisations worldwide, this year’s Report covers a broad and timely range of themes reflecting the complex and rapidly evolving global landscape in which European companies operate. These include an assessment of the business and investment environment in each market, the political and economic challenges affecting European business operations, the alignment of partner countries with EU trade and regulatory frameworks, bilateral trade and investment flows, trends in European business presence since the pandemic, and a forward-looking analysis of opportunities and challenges — spanning US tariff measures, geopolitical tensions, ESG trends, and supply chain resilience. The Report also examines how governments and businesses are responding to global economic uncertainty and the growing impact of trade protectionism on EU bilateral trade relationships over the next 12 to 24 months.

The Report is produced in close collaboration with the European Delegation and is presented annually at the EBOWN Brussels Meeting, where it serves as a key input for high-level dialogue between European business leaders and EU institutional stakeholders. At a time of increasing global uncertainty, it serves as a valuable reference point for policymakers, businesses, and institutional stakeholders seeking to understand the evolving landscape of European business beyond the EU.
