SEAMEO Secretariat led discussions at a roundtable hosted by NOCN Group and Cambridge University Press & Assessment in partnership with 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧, 🇬🇧 in May.

Drawing on SEAMEO’s report, 𝐴𝑛 𝐴𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑦𝑠𝑖𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑇𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑓𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐷𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑝𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑆𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑆𝑜𝑢𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝐴𝑠𝑖𝑎, Datuk Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat, and Carlo Fernando, Learning Innovation and Information Specialist, presented regional evidence and insights on the state of teacher professional development across Southeast Asia, highlighting priorities for strengthening teacher learning systems and improving educational quality.

SEAMEO looks forward to advancing these conversations with partners committed to strengthening education across Southeast Asia.

The SEAMEO Secretariat partnered with the Rex Education International Forum on “𝑇𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐼𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝐿𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑟-𝐶𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑑𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝐹𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑜 𝑆𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑜𝑙 𝐿𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠”, bringing together 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 to exchange ideas and strengthen regional collaboration. Opening the forum, SEAMEO Director Datuk Dr. Habibah Abdul Rahim delivered the keynote address, “𝑅𝑎𝑚𝑎𝑖 𝑇𝑒𝑡𝑎𝑝𝑖 𝑆𝑎𝑡𝑢: 𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑇𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑡𝑜𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑠 𝐸𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑠𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛,” highlighting how Southeast Asia’s diversity serves as a powerful foundation for innovation and collective learning.

SEAMEO contributed regional perspectives on key priorities for the future of education. Deputy Director for Programme and Development Mr. John Arnold S. Siena explored how learner-centered approaches can be contextualized across Southeast Asia, while Learning Innovation and Information Specialist Mr. Carlo P. Fernando underscored the importance of sustainable teacher development.

Together, these discussions reaffirmed SEAMEO’s commitment to empowering school leaders, educators, and quality learning for all across the region.

As part of student-led activities, learners worked together to create an original song using AI—designed to raise awareness on 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, such as ventilation and infection prevention.

Instead of using existing songs, students contributed ideas for lyrics and tone, while AI helped transform these into a complete piece of music. The result?
A creative, engaging way to remind peers to stay healthy—𝐛𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.

This approach does more than teach content. It:
