UPDATE: We sterilized 14 more community cats today! That makes 29 for the week.

NAWA simply can’t provide sterilization and medical services to the street animals of our community without support. Today we want to extend a special thank you to community member Vara Sumetanon and her parents and other family members for an uncommonly generous gift that will allow us to sterilize dozens of animals to prevent unwanted litters and keep our community safer and more humane for people and animals alike. Already, we have used their amazing donation to sterilize 15 community cats, and that is just the beginning. We are grateful beyond measure for Vara and her family, and will work hard to turn their generosity into meaningful solutions for our community.

Tall, tri-colored, handsome boy ISO a family with a friendly buddy to play with. My name is Chubby, and share my toys, only p*e and p**p outdoors, and my rescuers made sure I am healthy — fully vaccinating me and doing that unpleasant thing with my nuts so that I am not responsible for any unwanted puppies. They found me on the street and helped me because I had a really painful broken leg. When they got the vet bill, I heard them say, “Oh, sh*t!” but they paid it and now are trying to find me a home of my own. Will you please welcome me. I promise to be a good boy.

NAWA would like to offer our sincere thanks to ISB fourth and fifth grade student leaders — and their amazing teachers Nicole Rose and Andrea Dawson — for taking time out of their weekend to organize and raise money for the street animals in our care during the school’s Community Marketplace. Without this kind of support, we simply would not be able to make our community safer, cleaner, and more humane for both people and animals. The proceeds of their hard work will go to help this recently rescued family — a mama cat and her four kittens. She will never again have another unwanted litter, and these babies will not have to contend with hunger, disease, or fear. We are so grateful for your support and generosity.

Chubby was found on the street with a broken leg a few weeks ago. A nice couple alerted NAWA and together we raised the money for his surgery. This sweet boy, who is now neutered, vaccinated and dewormed, is nearing the end of his recovery and is ready for a forever home. He is very friendly and probably under two years old. We are seeking a home without other animals because now that he knows love and care, he doesn’t like to share with it other pets. Who can blame him? Little orphans Alvin and Simon were rescued by Animal Welfare Alliance when they were just 2.5 weeks old. Their mother had died, and they, along with their three siblings, required bottle feeding and other special care. Now they are 12 weeks old and ready to find a family either together or separately. They are sweet, social, litter trained, and have had their first vaccines. We will also sterilize them soon. They are ready to add joy to some lucky family’s life.

Pickle and Pop say happy Easter! 🐰 These gorgeous 6-month-old boys are here to say that they are still looking for their forever family. They are chill, social, and even let the little girls whose family they are fostered with dress them up. Abandoned in a cage in the hot sun, NAWA rescued these little guys, who are now neutered, vaccinated and have tested negative for all feline diseases. They are loving, wonderful with children, and would make ideal family pets. They can be adopted separately, but having a bonded pair is actually easier because they keep each other company.
