In June 1998, the International Labour Conference adopted a Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and its Follow-up obligates member States to respect, promote and realize the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour and the effective abolition of child labour. In November 2001, following the publication of the first Global Report on forced labour, the ILO Governi
ng Body created a Special Action Programme to combat Forced Labour (SAP-FL), as part of broader efforts to promote the 1998 Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and its Follow-up. The APForcedLabourNet is a part of this effort to raise public awareness as well as disseminate and exchange knowledge on forced labour issues.
