Capoeira Angola Bangkok was established in October 2006 with the aim of teaching and promoting all aspects of Capoeira Angola, including its music, movements, history and philosophy. The group has organized various Capoeira Angola and African-Brazilian cultural events, performed at diverse community venues throughout the city and conducted special workshops for children and youth at schools that i
nclude the Early Learning Centre, Darunsikkhalai School for Innovative Learning and Thammasat University. In October 2014, the group moved to its current space in the Lower Silom neighbourhood of Bang Rak where it hosts an open roda on the first Saturday of every month and offers classes three times a week to youth and adults of all skill levels and backgrounds. From October 2016 to February 2021, Capoeira Angola Bangkok was an official branch of the International Capoeira Angola Foundation, under the leadership and support of Mestre Beto de Freitas. The group is coordinated by Phu Huynh, who has practiced Capoeira Angola since 2001 under the guidance of Mestre Beto and also studied from 2004 to 2006 with the dedicated instructors of the International Capoeira Angola Foundation in Washington DC (USA).
