🏫 “WE ARE NO LONGER AFRAID OF TAKING A BATH”
In the shared joy of teachers and students at Lung Ho Semi-boarding Secondary School (Tuyen Quang province), new facilities — including a boarding house, a covered schoolyard and student bathrooms supported by Plan International Vietnam — have officially been put into use.
💬 Representing more than 700 students, Dinh, a 6th grader, shared something very simple: in the past, the whole school had only one small bathroom, and students often had to wait a long time. During winter, it was even harder with the cold and water shortages. “Now we have new, cleaner bathrooms with more space. We are no longer afraid of taking a bath or being rushed,” Dinh said sincerely, as teachers and friends applauded.
🌧️ Beyond the bathrooms, the new boarding house also brings a different sense of reassurance. On rainy days, students no longer worry about damp rooms or water leaking in and soaking their books and clothes. Under the covered schoolyard, recess and physical education classes can now go on more comfortably — without worrying about the sun or the rain.
For many children in mountainous areas, getting to school is already a long journey. And to stay, learn and live safely each day, sometimes what they need are very basic things — a dry place to sleep, a clean space to bathe, or a sheltered yard to play.
💛 For Plan International Vietnam, these facilities are not just physical structures, but a way to help children — especially girls — feel more at ease at school, more confident in their daily lives, and more motivated to continue their education.
Change does not always come from something big. Sometimes, it begins with a warmer place to stay, a simple roof over the schoolyard, or a bathroom with clean water. But for children in these communities, those simple things can bring meaningful and lasting change.
