Life has brought its gifts. From a loving home, and the devastation of my mother’s death at 8, to finding my grandmother dead in the bath at 10, to Nursing at 17, and facing a kind old woman die in my first week – to working with indigenous people in remote Australia where there is no doctors, a
t 20, and experience wonderful natural death, to working in developing countries in the past 9 years, mostly in Cambodia, in rural, remote villages where there is no medical help beyond me, to training Death Doulas in Australia for the past 2 years. And here I am in heading for New York to share and enhance my life’s experiences. I am passionate about the way we are born, life’s challenges and the way we die. Each one, if done with awareness and love can make each transition smoother, and more comfortable. I am a daughter, a wife and feel deeply loved a mother, a grandmother and a woman of independence and passion. I love to experience different cultures and explore what matters in life. I have shared dying with many people, and at times I say I have died with someone. It often feels like I get a glimpse into what dying means. By nature, I only believe in what I have experience, so it makes many things in life very challenging for me……….. There is only one thing I know to be completely true. From the day we are conceived, we are on our way to death……
I have experienced many early pregnancy losses, and consider life to start from the moment of conception. I have no particular belief in what happens after me die, but have explored many thoughts, understandings of others and lived deeply in Christianity and Buddhism, with a touch of Hindi, and sat with and far welled people in many spiritual ceremonies…….I love them all. I enjoy ritual and opening my heart, soul and mind to all possibilities. Lessons of have learned along the way are simple

Birth really matters. A safe and kind transition to earth with an uninterrupted mum, and love kind gentle life, opens the door to an easier death. In every transition in life I believe we need someone to “hold the space”, and I compelled and determined to bring that deeply important role back into life. I have been training Birth Doulas for 20 years, and holding the space for woman and their families in life for more than 40 years. The work we need to do along the way to heal the past, to allow us to live in the moment is the journey of life…..not money.
