[EN 🇬🇧] We developed a prototype cycling route recommendation app for Bangkok, and recently took it to two different events — coming away with two awards.
Our team joined BDI Hackathon 2026 BDI-Big Data Institute as a finalist, where we developed the prototype based on our ongoing cycling safety research. The app focuses on lower-risk cycling routes, including shortcuts through local communities where cars travel slowly or cannot access.
We tested the prototype with real users and received valuable feedback from experts, investors, and cyclists.
We didn’t win at the BDI Hackathon, but soon after, we brought the same prototype to Falling Walls Lab 2026 DAAD Thailand where we presented how cycling safety research could be turned into an app for social change.
We received 2nd Runner-Up and the Popular Vote Award. This was another milestone for Bangkok Street Cyclists and showed us that there is still plenty of potential to develop the prototype further.
Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way. Follow our page for future updates on the app.
