Siam Legal International, our corporate member, a leading full-service law firm in Thailand, reported that Thailand is moving further toward digital business registration. Starting July 1, 2026, the Department of Business Development, or DBD, will stop accepting walk-in applications for the registration of newly established partnerships and limited companies.

From that date, applications to establish new partnerships and limited companies must be submitted through the DBD Biz Regist online system nationwide.

For entrepreneurs and foreign investors, this change may make company registration in Thailand more convenient by reducing the need to visit the DBD or provincial commercial offices in person. At the same time, it reflects Thailand’s broader move toward a more digital, traceable, and compliance-focused business registration system.

On 17 June 2026, Khun Suphajee Suthumpun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, said a joint session of MPs and senators has approved the submission of five trade agreements aimed at strengthening Thailand’s export competitiveness, widening market access and supporting long-term economic growth, including the EFTA and Thailand FTA.

The Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce is delighted to hear this news. This is an important step towards strengthening economic cooperation, expanding market opportunities, and supporting sustainable long-term growth. We welcome this positive development and remains committed to supporting stronger business connections between Thailand and Norway. 🇹🇭🇳🇴

Khun Suphajee said the Thailand-EFTA FTA represents a major milestone in Thailand’s trade strategy, as it is the country’s first free trade agreement with a European bloc. Under the agreement, the bloc will immediately eliminate import tariffs on a wide range of Thai products once the deal enters into force, creating new opportunities for Thai exporters in goods and services where the country has strong potential.

The Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce extends its warmest congratulations to former President and long-serving Board member Axel Blom on being awarded the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, Knight 1st Class, by H.M. King Harald V of Norway. The award recognises Axel's longstanding contribution to strengthening economic cooperation between Norway and Thailand and advancing Norwegian business interests in the region. 👏

Over more than four decades in Asia, Axel has played a significant role in building commercial links between Norway and Southeast Asia through leadership positions in aviation, trade promotion, business advisory services, and private enterprise. During his tenure as Country Director of Innovation Norway in Thailand, he spearheaded Norway's commercial entry into Myanmar following the country's opening to international business, helping Norwegian companies establish an early presence in one of Asia's last frontier markets. Through his work with Norway Connect Ltd., Innovation Norway and Asian Insiders, he has supported Norwegian businesses across a wide range of industries in identifying opportunities and expanding their footprint throughout the region.

The Chamber has also been fortunate to benefit from Axel's leadership as President from 2007–2013 and again from 2019–2026. During these periods, he contributed significantly to strengthening the Chamber's role as a platform for business cooperation between Norway and Thailand. The Chamber extends its sincere congratulations to Axel on this distinguished recognition. 🎊

On 12 June 2026, Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) hosted the Prime Minister’s Address Luncheon 2026 with His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand. The event attracted over 500 distinguished guests from various sectors, including government officials, ambassadors, foreign investors who are members of the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand, and their distinguished guests, to discuss Thailand’s future as a regional economic hub.
