Learning, Sharing, and Networking for UNESCO GNLC and UCCN Membership
On 25–26 August 2025, the Ministry of Education of Thailand organized the seminar “Learning, Sharing, and Networking for the UNESCO GNLC and UCCN Membership” at the Montien Riverside Hotel, Bangkok. The event brought together key stakeholders, including the UNESCO Bangkok Office, the Ministry of Culture, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Equitable Education Fund (EEF), Program Management Unit on Area-based Development (PMU-A), representatives from the Learning Cities Network: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Sukhothai, Khon Kaen, Chachoengsao, Suphanburi, Bangkok, Phetchaburi, Songkhla (Hat Yai), and Phuket, representatives from the Creative Cities Network: Phuket (City of Gastronomy), Chiang Mai (City of Crafts and Folk Art), Bangkok (City of Design), Phetchaburi (City of Gastronomy), Sukhothai (City of Crafts and Folk Art), and Suphanburi (City of Music)
The seminar was officially opened by Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, who also visited the exhibition showcasing initiatives from Thailand’s Creative Cities and Learning City.
As part of the program, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), represented by the Deputy Director of the Department of City Planning and Urban Development, presented Bangkok’s initiative as a UNESCO Creative City of Design. The exhibition highlighted Bangkok’s strategic policies to advance as a Creative City of Design through inclusive and participatory urban design processes, while also promoting district-level creative economies.
In recognition of this collaboration, the Bangkok also presented a commemorative gift to the Minister of Education.
This event served as a meaningful platform for exchange, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among Learning Cities and Creative Cities, reinforcing the role of networks in fostering sustainable urban and educational development.
