Early 2026, FAVA successfully conducted a GEDSI survey among its members, the results of which were presented at the WVAC 2026 in Tokyo, Japan. The survey highlighted several areas that remain unclear to respondents, notably the measurable impact of GEDSI and ambiguity surrounding the recognition of GEDSI policies within organizations. These key findings prompted FAVA to recommend that the veterinary profession adopt robust policies supported by clear communication and "socialization" at all organizational levels. Ultimately, there is a clear need for improved understanding and dialogue among veterinarians, tailored specifically to the unique needs of each country and organization type.

With this regards, FAVA intends to engage its members and key stakeholders by hosting an online training program: "GEDSI among Veterinary Practitioners in Asia and the Pacific: From Policy to Implementation at the Organizational Level." Led by invited experts has been conducted on 15 July, 2026 at 2.00-4.30 pm BKK time. We have 98 registrations from 17 Countries from and 15 FAVA members participated the Training. The program has been enriched with the educator, experts and invited speakers GEDSI in the symposium part. For the training program, the participants shared their experiences on the current status in their organization by the question on “What are the general factors that could hinder the organization to promote GEDSI?” and the second question “If you can make a change in GEDSI in your organization, what would be the first 2 things you do?” to initiate their thought on what they can actually do for a better workplace. Upon the 2 questions, the training could inspire on the awareness on GEDSI in their organization among the FAVA.

FAVA would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and the support from Australian the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), FAVA members, AAVS members and IVSA Asia and Pacific members and special thanks to VNU Exhibitions Asia pacific on co-hosting the Training. FAVA will continue the encouragement on GEDSI among our members and the conclusion part of the campaign will be presented in the FAVA Congress 2027, 27-29 January, 2027, Manila, Philippines.

💫 The new WVA Council for the term 2026-2028 came together in Anaheim, USA, for its first in-person onboarding and working meeting, marking the start of a very positive collaboration and leadership.

Over two very productive days, Council members gained a deeper understanding of the WVA's work, strategic priorities and ongoing initiatives, while building the strong relationships that are essential for effective collaboration.

The meeting also provided a valuable opportunity to engage with a number of WVA partners, whose participation enriched discussions and reinforced our shared commitment to advancing animal health, animal welfare and One Health worldwide.

Alongside planning sessions, the programme included interactive workshops on key topics, including crisis management, exercising practical skills to support the Association in responding effectively to future challenges.

We look forward to working together, strengthening partnerships, and delivering meaningful impact for the global veterinary profession!
