Yesterday, UNESCO Regional Director Soohyun Kim emphasized the need to reimagine and build a new relationship with the ocean—grounded in science, strengthened by partnerships, and driven by future generations—to advance sustainable development.

🌊 เยาวชนเปลี่ยนแนวคิดให้กลายเป็นการลงมือทำเพื่อมหาสมุทรของเรา

ในวันมหาสมุทรสากล 2026 UNESCO ร่วมกับ กระทรวงศึกษาธิการ กระทรวงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม-ประเทศไทย โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนจากฟาสต์ รีเทลลิ่ง จำกัด (บริษัทแม่ของยูนิโคล่) ภายใต้โครงการ Sustaining Our Oceans ชวนเยาวชน ครูผู้สอน และผู้สนับสนุนมหาสมุทรจากอินโดนีเซีย ญี่ปุ่น ไทย และเวียดนาม แชร์ไอเดีย นวัตกรรมสร้างในการอนุรักษ์มหาสมุทร

ภายในงานมีการนำเสนอโครงการที่รับแรงบันดาลใจจากสื่อการเรียนรู้ของโครงการ Sustaining Our Oceans เช่น โครงการเรือพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์ที่เก็บขยะในลำคลอง ไปจนถึงโครงการฟื้นฟูป่าชายเลนและการวิจัยความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ

🌊 Young people are turning ideas into action for our ocean.

This World Oceans Day 2026, UNESCO in partnership with Ministry of Education and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Thailand, and supported by Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., through sustaining our oceans initiative brought together youth voices, educators and ocean advocates from Indonesia, Japan, Thailand and Viet Nam to celebrate innovation, creativity and collective action for ocean conservation.

The event feature youth-led project presentation from a solar-powered boat collecting canal waste project to mangrove restoration campaigns and biodiversity research project, students across Asia-Pacific are showing how education can inspire real solutions for a healthier planet. 💙

🇱🇦 A milestone for Lao PDR.

On 5 June, UNESCO joined Prime Minister Sonexay and Deputy Prime Minister Thongsalith at the National University of Laos for the launch of two landmark frameworks — the National Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Strategy 2026–2040 and the National Teacher Policy — as the country prepares to graduate from Least Developed Country status.

🎓 What should education look like beyond 2030?

The UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, in partnership with Chulalongkorn University, brought together students and youth advocates from across the region for the first Asia-Pacific Youth Dialogue on the Future of Education and Learning beyond 2030, joined by UNESCO Director-General, Khaled El-Enany during his visit to Thailand.

From artificial intelligence and mental health to flexible learning pathways and climate challenges, the bold ideas young people shared will contribute to shaping a new global education framework.🌏
