Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With 175 member states, and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing ser

vices and advice to governments and migrants. IOM Thailand works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people. IOM Thailand activities that cut across these areas include the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and guidance, protection of migrants' rights, migration health and the gender dimension of migration.

As a long-time law enforcement official, migration was never a foreign concept to Pol.Col. Sirichai. But IOM's training brought a deeper understanding of why well-managed migration matters and what it actually looks like in practice.

Now, he is a trainer himself, passing that knowledge on to fellow law enforcement officials with a simple goal – for every officer to recognize the rights of migrants, regardless of their status.

Our first Training of Trainers on trafficking in persons and cybercrime wrapped up in Bangkok! 🧑‍🏫✅

Together with the Police Education Bureau, Royal Thai Police, IOM convened 20+ law enforcement officials for a three-day course on technology-facilitated trafficking – spanning financial structures, IT, forensics and trafficking indicators.

Equipped with practical knowledge, this first cohort is now ready to train other officials and strengthen Thailand's anti-trafficking response in the digital age.

Human rights must be at the heart of every anti-trafficking response.

IOM and AICHR Thailand convened 80+ representatives from law enforcement, consular offices and civil society to tackle one of Southeast Asia's most pressing challenges: trafficking for forced criminality.

Over two days, participants:
✅ Examined emerging challenges linked to transnational crime and scam compounds
✅ Shared good practices and reinforced the non-punishment principle
✅ Visited the Anti-Cyber Scam Centre and a welfare protection centre for firsthand insights

What does a year of action look like at IOM? 🤔

For 50 years, IOM Thailand has worked to make migration safe, orderly and regular for the benefit of all. In 2025, we reached thousands of migrants and host community members across the country:

👉 1,400+ refugees were assisted to resettle to seven countries
👉 4,700+ migrant workers gained technical skills
👉 7,400+ people received direct assistance
