As part of Symposium 10: 50th Anniversary Symposium of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, we are delighted to announce a special keynote lecture by Prof. Emeritus Wiwut Tanthapanichakoon, commemorating five decades of Chemical Engineering at Chulalongkorn University.

“From Fine-Particle Air Filtration through Nanomaterials (including Nanoparticles) to Nuclear-Enabled Biofuels”

The lecture will take us through an extraordinary span of research and technological development—from fine-particle air filtration and particle technology to nanomaterials and nanotechnology, complemented by Dr. Wison Luangdilok’s contribution on nuclear-enabled biofuels.
The occasion is particularly meaningful for our department. Prof. Wiwut is Professor Emeritus of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, and has played an important role in the development of chemical engineering, particle technology, and nanotechnology in Thailand. He later served as a tenured Professor and subsequently Professor Emeritus at Tokyo Institute of Technology, and was the first Executive Director of Thailand’s National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC). He is currently a Fellow of the Academy of Science, The Royal Society of Thailand.

The symposium brings together alumni, faculty members, researchers, students, industry leaders, and international collaborators to celebrate the department’s 50-year journey while looking ahead to the next era of Chemical Engineering—from AI and data-driven engineering to BCG, Net Zero, sustainable energy, advanced materials, Power-to-X, the future of Thai industry, and Chemical Engineering education.
It will be held within MCARE 2026 — Materials Challenges in Alternative and Renewable Energy 2026, an international conference being hosted in Southeast Asia for the first time.

การบรรยายครั้งนี้จะพาเราย้อนมองเส้นทางของงานวิจัยและเทคโนโลยีตั้งแต่ การกรองอนุภาคขนาดเล็ก Particle Technology, Nanomaterials และ Nanotechnology ไปจนถึงประเด็น Nuclear-Enabled Biofuels ซึ่งมีส่วนร่วมโดย Dr. Wison Luangdilok
การบรรยายครั้งนี้มีความหมายอย่างยิ่งสำหรับวาระครบรอบ 50 ปีของภาควิชา เพราะ ศ.ดร.วิวัฒน์ เป็นศาสตราจารย์กิตติคุณของภาควิชาวิศวกรรมเคมี จุฬาฯ และเป็นหนึ่งในบุคคลสำคัญต่อการพัฒนางานด้าน Chemical Engineering, Particle Technology และ Nanotechnology ของประเทศไทย ท่านเคยดำรงตำแหน่ง Tenured Professor และต่อมาเป็น Professor Emeritus ที่ Tokyo Institute of Technology รวมถึงเป็น ผู้อำนวยการคนแรกของศูนย์นาโนเทคโนโลยีแห่งชาติ (NANOTEC) และปัจจุบันเป็น ภาคีสมาชิก/สมาชิกสำนักวิทยาศาสตร์ ราชบัณฑิตยสภา
