🎉 Happy 10th Anniversary, Empower Toastmasters Club! 🎉

What does Empower Toastmasters mean to you?

As Toastmaster of the Day, TM Pongsakorn opened the meeting with this warm-up question, the room quickly filled with heartfelt answers — unity, confidence, brotherhood, growth, networking, speeches, training, multicultural friendships, a welcoming community, and a space free of judgement. It was a beautiful reminder of what this club has meant to so many over the past decade. ✨

We were honored to hear a special video message from our founder, Amelie, sharing the story of how Empower Toastmasters began 10 years ago and the vision that brought the club to life.

The meeting continued with three engaging speeches:
🎤 First Speaker reflected on her experience at the Impact event, reminding us how impact can be created far beyond words
🎤 Second speaker shared valuable lessons from the world of investments
🎤 Third one brought public speaking expertise and spontaneity to the stage through a challenging speech on the power of humor in Impromptu speech

The energy carried into an inspiring Table Topics session led by TM Bua on the theme: “What do empowering voices sound like to you?”

Members spoke passionately about finding empowerment in unexpected places — through vulnerable voices, quiet confidence, meaningful connections, and even fantasy football! Every response reflected the diverse voices and perspectives that make Empower so special.

The celebration concluded with thoughtful evaluations, laughter, cake cutting, and lunch shared together as a community. ❤️

A wonderful meeting filled with energy, laughter, and meaningful conversations last Wednesday! 💬✨

We kicked things off with a simple yet fun question from our Toastmaster of the Day, TM Blair: “What is the one thing you can do endlessly?” From playing with pets to exploring technology, the answers sparked connection and plenty of smiles across the room.

Our speakers brought in thoughtful and relatable perspectives—on motivating others, navigating friendships, and mastering ourselves. Each speech gave us something to reflect on and take back into our own lives.

We wrapped up with evaluations and a lively Table Topics session inspired by local art and aligned to our meeting theme Milestones, where members shared spontaneous thoughts and stories—always a crowd favorite!

Celebrating our 10th Anniversary -Building Confidence Beyond Words: Overcoming Communication Barriers Through Non-Verbal Connection

We didn’t all speak the same language—but we understood each other. Through gestures, smiles, and a lot of heart, communication found its way—reminding us that connection goes far beyond words.

As we approached our 10th anniversary, our club committee set out with a simple intention: to create something meaningful and impactful. What began as an idea soon evolved into a public speaking workshop with the children at HDF Mercy Foundation (TM Jacquie and all committee members 🙏). Bringing it to life meant navigating logistical, financial, and compliance considerations—but with shared ownership and teamwork, the experience came together.

From the very beginning, the day challenged our assumptions about communication. With limited overlap in language, we quickly discovered that confidence isn’t built through words alone. Tone, expression, posture, and presence became our shared language. With TM Bud stepping in as a joyful translator—and often bridging gaps with laughter and energy—the room came alive in its own unique rhythm.

We started with voice exercises with TM Shwe Sin and team—humming, whispering, and speaking with intention that seemed simple on the surface became powerful in practice. The children began to explore what confident speaking feels like.

Their eagerness to participate shaped everything that followed. In small groups, mentors and students worked side by side to craft simple one-minute speeches, guided by bilingual prompts. It wasn’t about delivering perfect sentences—it was about expressing ideas, being heard, and being encouraged.

As mentors rotated across groups, something shifted. With each interaction, the children grew more comfortable—not just with their words, but with their presence. Confidence was being built—in ways that didn’t rely on language alone.

The final moment brought it all together. Five students stepped forward to present to the entire group. The transformation was clear. What began as hesitation had turned into courage. What began as uncertainty had grown into expression.

President of Empower Toastmasters Club, TM Fouzia closed with a reflection on the importance of finding and using one’s voice.

What stayed with us:
• Confidence can be built even when words are limited
• Non-verbal communication—gestures, tone, presence—can bridge powerful gaps
• The best learning spaces are co-created, not delivered

In just a few hours, we didn’t just give a short lesson on public speaking—we experienced how communication, in its fullest form, can unlock confidence. A truly meaningful day for all of us. 💛

Ever noticed how a simple story can bring a room full of strangers together? ✨

At our recent Toastmasters meeting, we explored the Power of Storytelling. Led by Toastmaster of the Day, TM Megha, the session began with a thoughtful framework on how to craft a compelling story—guiding us through structure, plot, and purpose.

But just when we thought we had it figured out, Table Topics added a twist! 🎭
Participants were given surprise prompts that had to be seamlessly woven into their stories on the spot. What followed was a beautiful mix of creativity, quick thinking, and laughter.

The prepared speeches carried the storytelling theme forward—each one unique, heartfelt, and impactful. And our evaluators, as always, offered thoughtful insights that encouraged every speaker to grow.

💛Adding to the warmth of the day, we also celebrated Songkran by honoring our senior club members—the ones who have been with the club the longest. Their presence, experience, and continued support are a true inspiration to our community. 💛

More than just a meeting, it was a reminder of how stories connect us—across experiences, generations, and voices.

Planting Seeds of Confidence 🌱

A big thank you to our club member TM Jacquie and her company Volunteer To The World for organizing a meaningful visit to HDF Mercy Farm.

As part of celebrating our 10th anniversary, Empower Club Toastmasters spent the day at the farm, connecting with the students and mentoring them through a public speaking workshop.

This April Fool’s Day, we took on a Speech-a-thong with five speeches and evaluations — what sounded like a marathon quickly turned into a fun and thoughtful exploration of the spirit of the day.

Small wins, big impact 💫

In line with our theme “The Power of Small Wins,” our Toastmaster of the Day, TM Asha, got the club reflecting on the little wins that make a big difference — from choosing a kale smoothie, to getting good sleep, saying no, or even progressing step by step in learning the piano.

The speeches carried this momentum forward. We heard a personal Toastmasters journey, reflected on emotional intelligence (and what we really answer when we hear “How are you?”), and explored plans on building a scalable health plan.

The conversation continued through a fun Table Topics session, where participants wore either a crown or a captain’s cap while they shared more small wins and we were left with a thought-provoking question: Can small wins overcome a failure?

Lastly, we closed with some insightful evaluations to the speeches. All in all, it was an afternoon of meaningful learning and a great dopamine boost from celebrating small wins. ✨

🎶 Speeches and evaluations and evaluations of evaluations, Table Topics debates and joyful celebrations…
These are a few of our favorite things! 🎶

Our latest Toastmasters meeting began on a cheerful note as Toastmaster of the Day TM Bua got the whole club singing “My Favorite Things” (Sound of Music)— a fun and unexpected way to shake off nerves and warm up our voices.
As she highlighted- “If you have a voice....you can sing”

The speeches that followed gave us plenty more favorites. We learned about crafting effective evaluations that strengthen speakers, laughed along with a relatable story about the challenge of saying no to a friend, and also welcomed a new member who introduced himself through his Icebreaker speech sharing the exciting and sometimes boring side of entrepreneurship, with late nights and failed ideas included.

The learning continued with thoughtful evaluations and an innovative Table Topics debate where speakers argued both for and against fun prompts.

From songs to debates and plenty of laughter along the way — we’re becoming better public speakers.

Can rap improve your impromptu speaking skills? 🎤
At our last Toastmasters meeting… we think it just might!

Our Table Topics session had members teaming up to deliver two-minute impromptu raps. It stretched creativity, demanded quick thinking, and had everyone laughing out loud.
👏Huge kudos to those who had the courage to take the stage and rap on the spot — that’s confidence in action! 👏🔥

The prepared speeches brought thoughtful insights too — from understanding communication styles, to using our voices to empower youth, to rethinking whether “rabbit holes” might actually spark creativity and learning.

We also wrapped up with a reflection on how five-minute daily habits can turn forgotten resolutions into achievable goals — a small shift with big impact.

When laughter yoga coach TM Bud took on the mantle of Toastmaster of the day, she brought the theme “Prosper with Laughter and Confidence.” 😊 to life. She kicked things off by getting everyone active with laughter yoga exercises that had the room smiling and laughing within minutes!

The theme carried beautifully into the speeches. We heard about the power of assuming good intent and how today’s thoughts shape our brains for tomorrow. An engaging icebreaker reminded us why joining Toastmasters is such a meaningful growth journey, and another inspiring speech shared how taking up running brought benefits far beyond physical fitness — building resilience and mental strength along the way.

The meeting wrapped up with a lively Table Topics session that had speakers reflecting on confidence and laughter.

A wonderful reminder that growth can be joyful — and that sometimes, confidence really does begin with a smile. 🌟
