Landmark UN Report Calls to Eliminate Violence and Discrimination experienced by Le***an, Bis*xual and Q***r Women!
The Independent Expert on SOGIE presented recommendations to Member States at to eliminate violence and discrimination experienced by le***an, bis*xual and q***r women.
This report "is an important milestone in recognising that le***an, bis*xual, and q***r women experience distinct forms of violence and discrimination that are often rendered invisible in both feminist and LGBTQI+ spaces. It provides a powerful framework for advocacy and accountability, " highlights Jean Chong, ED of Asia Feminist LBQ Network, and APA Member.
The reports recognizes that LBQ women experience systemic violations of their rights to health, property, inheritance, freedom of movement, access to justice and family life. These abuses reflect enduring misogyny across institutions and the broader structural subordination of women.
"It is an important tool for APA members, partners and allies to strengthen their advocacy, amplify LBQ women-led voices, engage with national and international human rights processes, and push for dedicated funding and policy responses that address LBQ women specific experiences of violence and discrimination."
