Asia Pacific Transgender Network

Asia Pacific Transgender Network Official page of APTN. In 2011, one transgender man insisted and drew attention to the need for inclusivity in the advocacy for transgender men.

Advocating for a society that upholds, respects, and protects the diversity, safety, equality, and dignity of trans and gender diverse people. The Asia and Pacific Transgender Network was launched in December 2009 when 15 transgender women from 10 Asia and Pacific countries and areas came together to champion the health, legal and social rights of transgender women. A milestone in the history of t

ransgender people in the region, they demanded recognition to identify themselves as a distinct demographic group with their unique needs wishing to be separated from the MSM umbrella. He joined the APTN Board and all agreed with a new more inclusive mission statement:

The mission of APTN is to enable transgender women and men in the Asia and Pacific region to organise and advocate for the improvement their health, protection of their legal, social and human rights, and enhance their social wellbeing and quality of life. Trans Rights are Human Rights

In 2026, anti-trans bills and legislations continue to chip away at the rights of the trans and gender-nonconforming community, and an extremely concerning pattern is clearly emerging.

Trans people continue to be scapegoats for authorities and the people in power as they continue to get away with committing countless atrocities internationally.

This , we need to shed more light on the rights being taken away from trans people day by day, and how our disappearing rights will lead to the rights of other minority groups as well. ✊🏾✊🏽✊🏻

Gender affirming care such as Hormone Replacement Therapy can be a vital part of many trans peoples’ journeys towards finding themselves.

However, many in the Pacific Islands often face difficulties obtaining gender affirming care within the Pacific Islands, often needing to travel to obtain them. Others focus on social transition, forgoing medical transition altogether.

In this video, listen to Fa’afafine and Fa’atama share about their experiences around gender affirming care!
