MAST Human, in collaboration with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), organized the Interagency Workshop on Maritime Labour Protection and Law Enforcement in the Context of Human Trafficking and Transnational Crime
The workshop aimed to strengthen knowledge, enhance understanding, and promote integrated cooperation among government agencies, private-sector organizations, and international partners in protecting maritime workers and preventing human trafficking within the maritime labour sector.
The initiative was jointly organized by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), MAST Human Co., Ltd. (a social enterprise), and The Mission to Seafarers, with financial support provided by the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF).
Participating government agencies included the Department of Special Investigation (Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime Bureau, Regional Special Case Operations Bureau, and Policy and Strategy Division), the Marine Department, Pattaya Regional Harbour Office, Rayong Regional Harbour Office, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, the Chonburi Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office, and Laem Chabang Port.
The workshop served as an important platform for strengthening interagency cooperation on issues relating to seafarers’ rights, labour welfare protection, and the prevention and suppression of human trafficking in the maritime labour sector. It also facilitated the exchange of views, experiences, and recommendations among stakeholders, which will contribute to the further development and improvement of relevant policies, procedures, and operational practices.
