We are pleased to announce the JICA-hosted, Deloitte Group–operated Co-Creation × Innovation Program “QUEST” 2026. Now in its second year, the program is inviting business ideas that drive co-creation and innovation addressing JICA’s priority themes. In addition to JICA’s co-creation themes, applicants are welcome to propose their own topics.

Following the launch event, we will also hold online roundtables—well received by participants—to discuss the co-creation themes, as well as an online co-creation facilitation workshop exclusively for the JICA QUEST Community. We look forward to your participation.

- Eligible participants: Domestic and international private-sector companies, academia, public institutions, and civil society.
- Value Provided:
1. Facilitation of business matching between each participant for the development of co-creation ideas/projects.
2. Hands on support from JICA and Deloitte
・Business ideation, PoC planning and ex*****on, and exit strategy development (including fundraising).
3. Financial support for PoC expenses up to JPY3M(about $20K) per project.

Research and Education Grant for University Consortium (REd-UC) and Artificial Intelligence Research and Education Grant for University Consortium (AI REd-UC) are 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀; however, both invite Member Institutions (MI) to form a university consortium — bringing together institutions that meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the application guidelines — to collaboratively carry out research and/or education activities. The two programs ultimately aim to promote and strengthen high-level human resource development in interdisciplinary engineering and technology in the ASEAN region and Japan, while fostering meaningful partnerships across borders.

🚀 A New Chapter Begins: AUN/SEED-Net Enters the Platform Enhancement Phase (2026–2031)

After more than two decades of advancing engineering education and regional collaboration, AUN/SEED-Net proudly marks a major milestone: the successful completion of the Transitional Phase (2023–2026) and the launch of the new phase for the Enhancement of AUN/SEED-Net as Platform for International Brain Circulation within ASEAN and Japan.

Beginning 11 March 2026, AUN/SEED-Net embarks on a new five-year journey (2026–2031) to further strengthen its role as a regional platform for international brain circulation between ASEAN and Japan.

Established in 2001 under the ASEAN University Network (AUN) and supported by the Government of Japan through JICA, AUN/SEED-Net has grown into one of the most dynamic academic networks in the region. Today, the network connects 27 Member Institutions (MIs) across ASEAN and 18 Japanese Partner Universities (JPUs)—working together to advance engineering education, collaborative research, and human resource development for sustainable socio-economic progress.

🌏 The new phase will elevate AUN/SEED-Net’s impact by:
1️⃣ Nurturing internationally competitive personnel with multicultural awareness through academic cooperation among leading higher education institutions for engineering, in ASEAN and in Japan; and
2️⃣ Advancing the education and research capacities of leading higher education institutions for engineering in the region through collaboration and solidarity between the institutions and industrial sectors in ASEAN and Japan.
Implemented by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) of Thailand, and with continued support from JICA, this new phase reinforces the shared vision of strengthening regional knowledge exchange and fostering the next generation of engineering leaders.

From foundation to transformation, AUN/SEED-Net continues to evolve—connecting talent, ideas, and innovation across borders to shape a more sustainable and resilient future.

🎊 Welcoming Timor-Leste to the AUN/SEED-Net! 🎊

We are pleased to share an important milestone for the regional academic network. With the inclusion of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste as part of the ASEAN family, we are delighted to welcome Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL) as a new Member Institution (MI) of AUN/SEED-Net.

This expansion reflects our shared commitment to strengthening regional collaboration in engineering education, research, and human resource development in engineering across Southeast Asia.

With the addition of UNTL, the AUN/SEED-Net network now consists of 27 Member Institutions (MI) in ASEAN and 18 Japanese Partner Universities (JPU), further enriching our academic cooperation and knowledge exchange between ASEAN and Japan.

⚙️💫 Growing Networks and Consolidating Multidisciplinary Collaboration at the Training Workshop for the Next Generation of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Leaders 2026

In recognition of the grand challenges impacting today’s world, the Training Workshop for the Next Generation of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Leaders 2026 returns once again from 24 - 26 February 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, collaboratively organised by the ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network Secretariat (AUN/SEED-Net), the Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Platform (JASTIP), together with the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat. Held under the title “From Strategy to Impact: Developing Practical Skills for STI Coordination and Collaboration,” this workshop aims to build on last year’s successes, now nurturing the 2nd batch of selected next-generation of STI leaders to gain practical experiences into building essential skills in programme and project management, expand networks, and to developing effective coordination strategies for STI initiatives by fostering the essence of multidisciplinary collaboration.

Over the course of 3 days, the participants engaged in varying lectures and practical workshop sessions which encouraged multidisciplinary cooperation, utilising their diverse expertise to outline innovative projects which highlight the ethos of STI Coordination.
