Tuberculosis is still the leading cause of death among people living with HIV worldwide.

In 2024 alone, around 150,000 people living with HIV died from TB. These deaths are preventable. Stigma, late diagnosis, and lack of integrated services continue to cost lives.

Ending AIDS is impossible without ending TB. The response must be rights-based, community-led, and accessible to all.

Across Asia and the Pacific, many women, including women living with HIV continue to face stigma, discrimination, and barriers to healthcare. Advancing gender equality means protecting rights, investing in women’s health, and supporting women’s leadership.

When women rise, communities grow stronger.

In Asia and the Pacific, HIV prevalence among s*x workers remains significantly higher than in the general population, while criminalization and stigma continue to block access to testing, treatment, and protection services. Punitive laws do not protect health, they increase vulnerability.

On S*x Worker’s Rights Day, people living with HIV stand in solidarity with s*x workers. Decriminalization, dignity, and equal access to healthcare are essential to ending AIDS.

On Zero Discrimination Day 2026, APN+ calls for urgent action to end stigma, criminalization, and inequality faced by people living with HIV across Asia and the Pacific. HIV is not a crime, and human rights must be at the center of the response.

Ending AIDS is impossible without ending discrimination. Rights, dignity, and justice cannot wait.

The Thai Patent Board has rejected a sofosbuvir (HCV treatment) patent application following a pre-grant opposition by TNP+. This victory helps prevent evergreening, protects generic competition, and strengthens access to affordable hepatitis C treatment in Thailand.
