ร่วมย้อนค่ำคืนวันที่ 3 ธันวาคม 2567 สหภาพแรงงานเกาหลีใต้ได้ร่วมกันปิดล้อมรัฐสภาเพื่อยับยั้งการ “รัฐประหารเงียบ” เมื่ออดีตประธานาธิบดีเกาหลีใต้ ยุน ซอกยอล ประกาศกฎอัยการศึก พร้อมคำสั่งจับกุมนักการเมืองฝ่ายค้านและจำกัดเสรีภาพสื่อ และให้ทหารปิดล้อมทำเนียบไว้ สหภาพแรงงานและประชาชนเกาหลีใต้สามารถระดมผู้คนหลายพันคนออกมาปกป้องประชาธิปไตย ภายในเวลาเพียง 6 ชั่วโมง ชาวเกาหลีใต้ขัดขืนการปิดล้อมของทหาร และช่วยเหลือให้นักการเมืองฝ่ายค้านสามารถเข้าไปวีโต้กฎอัยการศึกในรัฐสภา ยับยั้งการรัฐประหารเงียบได้สำเร็จ

เราสามารถเรียนรู้อะไรจากประสบการณ์ของเกาหลีใต้ เพื่อเสริมสร้างขบวนการแรงงานของเราให้เข้มแข็งและเป็นพลังสำคัญของประชาธิปไตยในอนาคต?

✨How can universities ensure a better quality of life for the people who make education possible? And how can collective action strengthen the voices of education workers? 🎓
📚 On 3 September 2026, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Thailand, in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences, Naresuan University, organized a seminar titled “The Role of Universities and Staff Well-Being: Opportunities, Challenges, and the Experiences of Education Unions Around the World.” The seminar provided a space to exchange perspectives and experiences from diverse global contexts, while reflecting on the university’s role as both a place of learning and a workplace where workers’ rights, well-being, and dignity matter.
💬 The event featured an introduction to the book “All for One: Experiences of Education Unions from Several Countries,” followed by a discussion on the challenges faced by education workers, including workloads, job security, rights and welfare, and participation in organizational decision-making. Drawing on experiences from Thailand and around the world, the discussion highlighted how coming together and building collective power can strengthen workers’ voices and contribute to meaningful change.
✊ These issues also show that the quality of life of education workers is closely connected to the quality of the university itself. Creating spaces to listen to workers’ voices and exchange experiences is an important step toward fairer, more participatory, and supportive working environments—and a more sustainable university and a fairer workplace for all.
