💡 Across the Greater Mekong Subregion, malaria cases have fallen dramatically over the past decade. This progress did not happen by chance. It is powered by community-based malaria volunteers who reach households, build trust, and deliver life-saving services every day.

As this quote card from CSO Platform highlights, people-powered action works. Now the task is to protect these gains and ensure every community remains covered, especially as countries move closer to elimination.

🌐 On this World Malaria Day, we recognise the frontline champions who make progress possible and remind ourselves why sustained commitment matters. 👏

Together for health, stand with science 🧪🧬

This World Health Day 2026, we are reminded that health is not isolated — it is deeply interconnected.

From people to animals, from ecosystems to our shared environment, our wellbeing depends on one another. 🐥🐖🐄

The One Health approach highlights this connection — recognizing that protecting human health requires us to also protect animal health and the planet we live on.

It’s time to:
🔹 Work across disciplines and borders
🔹 Strengthen community and system resilience
🔹 Turn evidence into action
🔹 Invest in sustainable, inclusive health systems

In a world facing climate change, emerging diseases, and environmental challenges, science and collaboration across sectors are more important than ever. 🌏✨

Why One Health matters: communities need holistic, integrated services that reflect their realities-linking human, animal, and environmental health, especially in the face of climate change and declining donor funding.

At the One Health Festival Side Event in Bangkok, the CSO Platform shared insights on mapping One Health-related interventions in the Mekong region-highlighting what works in advancing community-led prevention across Asia-Pacific.

Organized by Apcaso, in collaboration with CIRAD the event brought together partners to strengthen collaboration and drive forward integrated, sustainable health solutions. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🐄🌿🌏💚

Yes! We Can End TB — but only if we act together 🙌🏼

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases—yet it is preventable, treatable, and curable.
🌍 10.7 million people fell ill with TB
⚠️ 1.23 million people died from TB
👶 1.2 million children were affected by TB
❗ Around 22% of people with TB were not diagnosed or treated
💊 Only 2 in 5 people with drug-resistant TB accessed treatment

This World TB Day 2026, we are reminded that ending TB is not just a goal—it is achievable with strong leadership, sustained investment, and community-driven action.

💬 Ending TB requires all of us—governments, health systems, and communities—working together.

Closing the last mile gap takes collaboration—and community leadership 🤝🏼

As Lieven Vernaeve highlights, civil society organizations play both an added and essential role in malaria elimination—especially in reaching communities beyond the reach of routine services.

Together with partners, we continue to promote community-led approaches as a cornerstone of equitable and sustainable malaria elimination. 💫

🌟 Reaching the last malaria cases requires more than coverage; it requires collaboration.

Lieven Vernaeve, from Malaria Consortium, shared practical lessons from Cambodia on how civil society organisations work alongside national malaria programmes to reach mobile, migrant, and forest‑going populations who are often missed by routine services. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 🦟

His experience reinforces the value of trusted partnerships, locally recruited volunteers, and peer‑led approaches in closing last‑mile gaps and supporting national elimination goals. 🤝

Thank you to Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network for spotlighting this important dialogue and reinforcing the role of civil society in driving equitable, lasting change.💜

⏰ Strong malaria elimination efforts are built from the ground up

At the recent Africa–Asia Civil Society Dialogue, Prof Maxine Whittaker, from CSO Platform, highlighted why communities and civil society organisations are not just contributors, but central partners in the fight against , particularly in reaching underserved populations and sustaining progress. 🌐

💡 Her reflections underscore the importance of trust, equity, and long‑term community engagement in prevention, control and elimination of malaria.

On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, leadership, and contributions of women everywhere. ⭐️

Across communities, women play a critical role in protecting health and wellbeing. From raising awareness to supporting access to essential services, they are often the bridge between health systems and the people who need care the most.

Their dedication helps ensure that even in the most challenging circumstances, communities—especially women, children, and other vulnerable groups—can access lifesaving information and services.

This day is not only a moment to recognize progress, but also a call to continue advancing gender equity and empowering women in all sectors of society.

🌏On World Day of Social Justice, we reaffirm that health equity is not optional — it is essential.

Key social determinants of health equity
📍Poverty - limits access to life-saving opportunities.
📍Conflict - decimates health equity.
📍Displacement - barriers to health services.
📍Climate Change - Disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
📍Discrimination - limit access to resources and reduce agency.

Health inequities are a matter of justice ⚖️
