Continuing the spirit of IDPWD 2025, Project ARES empowers youth, including persons with disabilities, to lead inclusive disaster resilience. On December 9, Malaboeño youth will join the training “Lead, Include, Protect: Youth Leadership for Comprehensive Community DRRM”, in partnership with Kasali Tayo and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office - PDAO - Malabon City.

By building leadership and DRRM skills, participants will drive social progress in their communities, ensuring that no one is left behind during disasters.

Grateful to the British Embassy Manila for the invitation! We proudly brought the voices, experiences, and aspirations of youth with disabilities to the table.
On Dec 5, our Co-Conveners Frankie and Rhay represented the youth sector at a roundtable hosted by Deputy Ambassador Mike Welch for IDPD 2025. Organizations of and for persons with disabilities discussed youth participation, inclusive policies, and accessible opportunities in education, social protection, health, and leadership.
We look forward to the ripples of this dialogue, where conversations grow into action and partnerships take deeper root in truly hearing and valuing our voices as youth with disabilities.

Kasali Tayo proudly joins in celebrating this year’s International Day of Persons with Disability. With the theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” we reaffirm our commitment to meaningful representation, participation, and accessibility in society.

IDPWD 2025 reminds us that true inclusion means ensuring that Persons with Disabilities have a seat at every table, and that every conversation, decision, and space in society is shaped with us. It means recognizing that we contribute far beyond the barriers, needs, or dependence often associated with disability, and that we must be valued for our leadership, creativity, and insight, as well.

Kasali Tayo calls on the youth, advocates, government agencies, private sector, and civil society to build a society where persons with disabilities are valued in every decision-making process – because inclusion and accessibility do not only benefit a few. It benefits all of us.

Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities!

📢 The Ripple Effect of Faking Disability IDs on Genuine Holders Cannot Be Undermined.
Frankie Nobleza, one of our co-conveners, shares her compelling insights on the growing issue of fake disability IDs in her opinion piece on Rappler.
This alarming trend does more than just bend the rules—it impacts legitimate Persons with Disabilities in serious ways:
🔸 Diminished resources meant for real persons with disabilities
🔸 Increased stigma and skepticism in society
🔸 Psychological toll on PWDs who feel invalidated
🔸 Undermined advocacy efforts fighting for disability inclusion
Fake IDs don’t just break policies; they break trust, fairness, and the progress we’re working so hard to achieve.

📢 Fake disability IDs on the rise: Who pays the price?
The increasing prevalence of fake PWD IDs is causing a setback to everyone—government agencies, business owners, and most of all, REAL Persons with Disabilities.
As Bless Adriano, lead convener of Kasali Tayo, shares:
"Establishments seemingly lose trust in us whenever we avail of discounts or other privileges related to disability IDs. Sometimes, we’re required to present additional documents just to prove our disability."
How ironic that the disability once despised by society is now being embraced merely to enjoy the 'privileges,' without truly understanding the sacrifices and challenges it compensates for. Let’s work together to protect our rights and ensure fair policies.

There could be around 8.5 million 'illegitimate' persons with disabilities in the Philippines, and P88 billion in taxes lost in 2023 due to fake PWD IDs, based on Senate estimates
