Koh Koh Pups is a dedicated non profit dog rescue operating on the island of Koh Tao, Thailand.

White - During Covid, we got reports that there was a dog living under a house. He had been tied up and was not being cared for sufficiently. The owner had left him with a friend to look after as they were no longer on the island and we asked if they would surrender him to us. After we rescued him, he started to gain weight and grew into a big strong boy. He now walks well on the lead and is a gentle giant. He gets on well with female dogs but can sometimes be reactive with males.

Squeak - One day we were at the dump and heard a puppy screaming (or Squeaking!) in pain. We found Squeak all alone in the bushes with a pr*****ed a**s. We took her to the clinic and she underwent surgery. Squeak was 4 months old and had very little human contact before we rescued her, so she was very nervous at first. It took us a long time to gain her trust but now she is incredibly loving and friendly. She is still a little stand-offish with men but warms to them when she learns they are nice. Squeak loves treats and running with her friend White, and she can sit nicely and walk well on the lead.

Shabu - He originally belonged to a Thai couple who, unfortunately, worked long hours and were unable to give him the time and attention he needed. As a result, he spent much of his day tied to a short chain. When he did manage to escape, he would run around town, often putting himself in dangerous situations. Thankfully, his owners recognised that they could no longer provide the life Shabu deserved. When they were preparing to move and were unable to take him with them, they contacted us and asked if we could take him into our care.We were happy to help, and since arriving at the rescue, Shabu has had the chance to enjoy freedom, companionship, and the care every dog deserves.

Evie - Evie was brought down from Bangkok with her sister to be a family pet. Sadly, over time it became clear their needs couldn’t be met. The girls were kept tied up with little stimulation or enrichment, until concerned locals reached out to us for help.
That call changed everything for Evie. Since arriving at the rescue, Evie has truly blossomed. She walks beautifully on the lead and absolutely thrives on aff

We need flight volunteers!

We have several dogs who need to complete their journey to their forever homes before the end of the year, and we need some lovely humans to help us get them there.

If you’re already booked to fly to Paris, or you’re planning a trip and haven’t booked your flight yet, please get in touch! Even if the UK is your final destination, there may be a way we can make it work.

We’ll arrange everything for the dog’s journey, including getting them from the airport and through the Channel Tunnel with a professional pet taxi, you just need to be willing to accompany them on the flight (potentially can get a lift in taxi through to UK if this is your final destination).

We are deeply saddened to inform you of Latte’s passing.

He started his day yesterday happy to see us all, and we gave him his usual fuss and belly rubs. Unfortunately, when we returned to the rescue just a couple of hours later, he had already passed. He looked very peaceful, and it seemed that he had simply gone quietly and pain-free in his sleep.

We are all so saddened and disappointed that we weren’t able to continue his journey with him. We had hoped for so much more for him. He had been with us for just two months, but in that time he lost 5kg and was doing so well. He seemed happier and healthier every day.

He was happy. He was comfortable. He was finally getting to live his life.

We are so grateful that Latte got to know what that felt like, even if we desperately wish we’d had more time with him. 🤍

We’ve decided that three dogs might just be the cutest number.

Three little personalities. Three wagging tails. Three best friends who do absolutely everything together.

They eat together. They play together. They nap together. And somehow, wherever one goes, the other two aren’t far behind. 🥹

There’s just something about a little trio of rescue dogs growing up together that melts our hearts.

From cowering in fear to jumping with joy for treats! What a difference two years and a whole lot of love can make.

Betsy, Bobbi, Bear, Roxy and Bailey came into our care as some of the most frightened puppies we’ve ever rescued. They were terrified of people, and even being near us was overwhelming, let alone being touched.

Over time, with patience, consistency and love, they slowly began to trust. Some found their confidence quicker than others, but every small step was a huge victory.

Bailey and Roxy have already been adopted and are now living wonderful lives overseas. Bear is preparing to travel to his forever home in England very soon.

Betsy and Bobbi have come such a long way too. While they’re still building confidence and continuing their socialisation, they’re living proof that scared dogs can learn to trust again when they’re given the time they need.

This puppy is only two weeks old.

He’s rolling around in the dirt, surrounded by plastic and rubbish. Not because anyone wanted this for him, but because this is the reality he was born into.

The truth is, the people who own these dogs are often living in the very same conditions. Poverty, limited access to veterinary care, and generations of unsterilized dogs create a cycle that repeats itself over and over again.

This isn’t a post asking for pity. It isn’t about blaming people either. It’s about recognising reality. We cannot adopt our way out of this problem. We cannot build enough shelters to house every unwanted dog. For every puppy that finds a home, countless more are born into the same circumstances.

The long-term solution has always been the same: sterilisation, education, and responsible dog ownership. Every dog that is neutered or spayed is a litter that will never be born into a life of uncertainty. Every owner who chooses to care for their dog responsibly helps break the cycle.

At Koh Koh Pups, this is exactly what we’re working towards. We’re having incredibly promising meetings with our local government to create real, lasting change. Not just rescuing the dogs that are suffering today, but helping prevent the suffering of tomorrow.

Because real change isn’t measured by how many dogs we rescue. It’s measured by how many never need rescuing in the first place.

Charlie loves to spend his days perched on the rocks at the rescue, keeping an eye on everything going on. They bear such a striking resemblance to Pride Rock from The Lion King that it feels like he’s watching over his kingdom.

It’s hard to believe this is the same dog we found lying in the middle of the road, unable to walk. Through patience, the right diet, and a lot of determination, Charlie has lost an incredible 16 kg.

That weight loss hasn’t just changed the number on the scales, it has completely changed his life. Today he’s active, happy, and back to enjoying all the simple things a dog should.

We’re so proud of you, Charlie.
