🇺🇸 VFW Post 12146 — General Monthly Meeting | October 10, 2026

Following our Community Food Giveaway, several members of VFW Post 12146 gathered at our Post Home for our General Monthly Meeting.

We were honored to welcome two special guests, current DPA Judge Advocate Comrade Maxson and current DPA Surgeon Comrade Chapman. We appreciate their presence and the opportunity to come together with fellow comrades to discuss matters important to our Post.

During the meeting, we covered various topics and conducted our regular Post business. We were also proud to welcome a new Life Member and officially conduct the swearing-in ceremony for a new comrade. These milestones reflect the continued growth, dedication, and commitment of our Post.

Looking ahead, we discussed several exciting upcoming community events and initiatives, including our 🎃 Halloween Event at Ban Phayun School, our upcoming Thanksgiving Dinner, and our Christmas Donations to a Special Needs School.

As always, our mission remains focused on service, camaraderie, supporting our veterans, and giving back to the communities around us. Thank you to all our members and guests who continue to contribute their time, dedication, and support to making VFW Post 12146 stronger.

Together, we serve. Together, we support. Together, we make a difference! 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Banchang Utapao VFW Post 12146 — Community Food Giveaway

On October 10, 2026, members of Banchang Utapao VFW Post 12146, along with family members and many friends of the Post, came together at Wat Phayun to support those in our local community who need it most.

Over a dozen comrades joined forces to provide basic food supplies to more than 52 families facing difficult times. Thanks to the dedication, generosity, and teamwork of everyone involved, families went home with much-needed support.

Events like this remind us that our commitment to service extends beyond our military service. By working together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and strengthen the communities we call home.

A heartfelt thank you to all our members, their families, and friends of the Post who showed up, volunteered their time, and helped make this event such a success.

A special thank you to Comrade Ken Stein and his wife, Malai Stein, for spearheading this event and ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Your leadership and dedication are truly appreciated!

Together, we continue to serve our veterans, support our communities, and make a difference where it matters most. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 VFW Post 12146 POW/MIA Remembrance Trip — Day 2, Part 2

Following our visit to Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, the VFW Post 12146 POW/MIA Remembrance Trip continued to Hellfire Pass.

Hellfire Pass was one of the most difficult sections of the Thailand–Burma Railway, constructed during World War II through forced labor that included thousands of Allied prisoners of war. POWs endured unimaginable conditions as they worked to cut through solid rock with limited tools, little food, inadequate medical care, and extreme physical hardship.

The name “Hellfire Pass” came from the sight of prisoners working by torchlight. The flickering flames against the rock walls created an image that was described as resembling a passage to hell.

During our visit, VFW Post 12146 conducted a solemn POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony at the main monument. Commander Patrick Brooks delivered heartfelt and purposeful words, reflecting on the sacrifices of the men who suffered and died at Hellfire Pass and reminding us of our responsibility to ensure their stories are never forgotten.

The Post also laid a wreath at the main Hellfire Pass monument, honoring the prisoners of war and all those who suffered and lost their lives during the construction of the railway.

We also took time to inspect the condition of the VFW plaque honoring the American POWs who were held and worked at Hellfire Pass. Preserving, maintaining, and honoring these memorials is an important responsibility. They serve as lasting reminders of the sacrifices made by those who served and those who never returned home.

The Post was honored to be joined by Department of the Pacific Areas Junior Vice Commander Lou Holub, who participated in the day’s remembrance activities and helped us pay tribute to those who came before us.

A very special thank you to Micky and Khun Nan for their exceptional hospitality, assistance, and support both before and throughout our visit. Your help played an important role in making this meaningful day possible, and your support is sincerely appreciated by everyone at VFW Post 12146.

🇺🇸 We remember.
We honor.
We never forget.

Their sacrifices must never become forgotten history.
We carry their stories forward.

🇺🇸 VFW Post 12146 POW/MIA Remembrance Trip — Day 2, Part 1

On 19 September 2026, Day 2 of the VFW Post 12146 POW/MIA Remembrance Trip continued with a visit to Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (DonRak) — สุสานทหารสัมพันธมิตรดอนรัก.

Walking among the rows of graves was a powerful and humbling experience. Each name represents a life, a family, and a story forever connected to the sacrifices of World War II.

Our Post members and family members took time to walk the grounds, pay their respects, and reflect on the tremendous hardships endured by Allied prisoners of war during the construction of the Thailand–Burma Railway.

Standing among these graves reminds us that freedom comes at a cost. Many of these brave men made the ultimate sacrifice and never had the opportunity to return home to their loved ones.

🇺🇸 We remember.
We honor.
We will never forget.

Their names may rest in the earth, but their sacrifices live on in our hearts and in the history we carry forward.

Stay tuned for Day 2, Part 2 as we continue our journey to remember, honor, and pay tribute to those who served.

🇺🇸 VFW Post 12146 POW/MIA Remembrance Trip — Day 1 🇺🇸

The VFW Post 12146 POW/MIA Remembrance Trip got off to a great start!

On 18 September 2026, 21 Post members, family members, and friends departed from the Post Home in Ban Chang and began the journey to Kanchanaburi.

That evening, our Post family gathered at Monty’s Sports Bar and Restaurant for a few incredible hours of great food, drinks, laughter, and camaraderie.

More than just a trip, this journey is an opportunity to come together as veterans and families, share stories, reflect on our own service, and remember the brave men and women who served before us — especially those who never came home.

As we continue this journey, we will visit the Allied War Cemetery and Hellfire Pass, honoring the sacrifices made by those who endured unimaginable hardship and those who gave everything in service to their countries.

🇺🇸 We remember. We honor. We never forget.

Stay tuned for more updates from our POW/MIA Remembrance Trip.

⚽❤️ Bringing Joy to the Kids of Wat Ban Chang School ❤️⚽

On September 17, 2026, VFW Post 12146 had the privilege of joining the soccer ball giveaway at Wat Ban Chang School.

Comrades, family, and friends came together for a simple but meaningful purpose—to bring some joy to the children by providing them with soccer balls and an opportunity to enjoy the game we all love. ⚽

Seeing the smiles, excitement, and happiness on the kids’ faces made this occasion truly special. It was a fulfilling and heartwarming experience for everyone who attended and a wonderful reminder that even a small act of kindness can make a lasting difference in a child’s day.

We are proud to continue serving not only our fellow Veterans, but also the children and communities around us. 🇺🇸🤝🇹🇭

Thank you to all the Comrades, family members, and friends who came out and helped make this event possible. Together, we can continue making a difference—one community, one child, and one smile at a time. ❤️

VFW Post 12146 Banchang Utapao is proud to give back to our local community! 🇺🇸🤝🇹🇭

On September 17th, our Post will be visiting Wat Ban Chang School to donate and distribute new soccer balls ⚽️ to the students. We invite all of our comrades, families, and friends to join us as we bring some excitement, smiles, and a little extra joy to these young students.

This is more than simply giving away soccer balls. It is an opportunity for our members and their families to come together, serve alongside one another, and experience firsthand what the VFW stands for—service, camaraderie, and supporting the communities in which we live.

Every ball we put into the hands of a student is an opportunity for them to play, learn, build friendships, stay active, and create memories. ❤️⚽️
