Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,048) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,009) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,239) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from April 1 to May 19, 2026, (85) people in total; (30) women and (55) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (19) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a five-month old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among these deaths, (63) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (166) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On April 14, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using drones on Taw Ya Monastery in Myauk Bet Village, Pauk Township, Magway Region. A bomb exploded in the monastery compound. The resulting bomb shrapnel killed two lay attendants, Sein Ngwe and Tun Maung, while they were performing monastery chores.

ထို့အပြင် မတရားအာဏာလုမှုဖြစ်စဉ်အပေါ် ဆန့်ကျင်ခဲ့သည့် ဖြစ်ရပ်များနှင့်ဆက်စပ်၍ အကြမ်းဖက်စစ်အုပ်စု၏ ဖမ်းဆီးခံခဲ့ရသူ စုစုပေါင်း (၃၁၀၀၉) ဦးရှိသည်။ အဆိုပါ ဖမ်းဆီးခံရသူများ ထဲမှ ထိန်းသိမ်းခံနေရဆဲဟု အတည်ပြုနိုင်သူ (၁၄၂၃၉) ဦးနှင့် အတည်ပြုရန်လိုအပ်ဆဲ (၇၈၇၄) ဦး ရှိသည်။

ဖော်ပြပါ ကိန်းဂဏန်းအရေအတွက်များသည် အေအေပီပီမှ လက်လှမ်းမီသမျှ ကောက်ယူရရှိထားသည့် အရေအတွက်ဖြစ်ပြီး မြေပြင်တွင်ဖြစ်ပွားနေသည့် အချက်အလက်များမှာ ယခုထက် ပိုမိုများပြား နိုင်ပါသည်။ အချက်အလက်များကို ထပ်မံကောက်ယူရရှိပြီး အတည်ပြုနိုင်ပါက ဆက်လက်ထည့်သွင်း ဖော်ပြသွားမည်ဖြစ်သည်။

နိုင်ငံရေးအကျဉ်းသားများ ကူညီစောင့်ရှောက်ရေးအသင်းမှ ကောက်ယူထားသော သတင်းအချက်အလက်များအရ ၂၀၂၆ ခုနှစ်၊ ဧပြီလ ၁ ရက်နေ့မှ မေလ ၁၉ ရက်နေ့အထိ နိုင်ငံတဝန်း၌ အကြမ်းဖက်စစ်အုပ်စုကြောင့် အမျိုးသမီး (၃၀) ဦးနှင့် အမျိုးသား (၅၅) ဦး စုစုပေါင်း (၈၅) ဦး သေဆုံးခဲ့သည်ကို အမည်နှင့်တကွ အတည်ပြုနိုင်ခဲ့ပြီး ထိုအရေအတွက်တွင် အသက်ငါးလအရွယ် ယောက်ျားလေးတဦးအပါအဝင် အသက် ၁၈ နှစ်အောက် ကလေး (၁၉) ဦး ပါဝင်သည်။ အဆိုပါသေဆုံးသူများအနက် (၆၃) ဦးမှာ စစ်အုပ်စု၏ လေကြောင်းဖြင့်ပစ်ခတ်တိုက်ခိုက်မှုကြောင့် အများဆုံးသေဆုံးခဲ့သည်။ အဆိုပါ ကာလအတွင်း အတည်ပြုရန်လိုအပ်နေဆဲ သေဆုံးအရပ်သား (၁၆၆) ဦး၏ စာရင်းကိုလည်း သီးခြားကောက်ယူ စုဆောင်းပြီး အတည်ပြုနိုင်ရန် ဆောင်ရွက်လျက်ရှိသည်။

ဧပြီလ ၁၄ ရက်နေ့တွင် မကွေးတိုင်း၊ ပေါက်မြို့နယ်၊ မြောက်ဘက်ကျေးရွာရှိ တောရဘုန်းကြီးကျောင်းကို အကြမ်းဖက်စစ်အုပ်စုက လေကြောင်းမှဒရုန်းဖြင့် ဗုံးကြဲတိုက်ခိုက်ခဲ့သောကြောင့် ဘုန်းကြီးကျောင်းဝန်းအတွင်းသို့ ကျရောက်ပေါက်ကွဲခဲ့ပြီး ကျောင်းဝေယျာဝစ္စလုပ်ကိုင်နေသော ကပ္ပိယများဖြစ်ကြသည့် ဦးစိန်ငွေနှင့် ဦးထွန်းမောင်တို့နှစ်ဦးအား ဗုံးစထိမှန်ကာ သေဆုံးခဲ့သည်။

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,045) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (30,996) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,229) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

In May 2026, the junta’s airstrikes and armed violence continued to cause civilian deaths and injury in parts of Burma. The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) has confirmed that around (60) civilians have been killed in airstrikes, heavy weaponry attacks, and other attacks carried out by junta forces since early May and during recent weeks.

On May 11, two bombs were dropped on a monastery in Me Taw Village, Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region. A man was killed when one of the bombs exploded on a building where monks eat. In addition, on May 12, an airstrike killed an internally displaced woman in Me Baw Khee Village, Hpa-An Township, Kayin State. Similarly, on May 17, junta forces who were stationed on a strategic hill conducted a drone strike in Lone Hkin Village, Hpakant Township, Kachin State, killing three women, including a 72-year-old woman. The junta has continued to target civilian buildings and religious sites and carry out mass arrests. According to reports from the ground, a nunnery within the grounds of a historic Catholic church in Demoso Township, Kayah State, was burned down on May 13.

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,045) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (30,991) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,226) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from May 1 to 15, 2026, (28) people in total; (9) women and (19) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (9) children under the age of 18, including a five-month-old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among these deaths, Sagaing Region recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (9), followed by (8)people in Chin State. Meanwhile, (20) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (29) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On May 12, at approximately 10:00 p.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing in Mae Baw Khee Village, Hpa-An Township, Kayin State. A bomb exploded in the village and the bomb shrapnel killed Naw Bar Bu, a 19-year-old internally displaced person (IDP) from Baw Kyoet Lel Village, Hpapun Township.

A total of (30,986) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,223) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by the AAPP, from January 1 to May 14, 2026, (43) people in total age 65 and above; (29) women and (14) men, were killed by the junta across the country. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, Sagaing Region records the highest number of deaths, totaling (11), followed by (9) people in Bago Region. Moreover, among the (43) deceased, (27) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death, followed by (11) people who were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes.

On May 12, at approximately 4:00 p.m., junta forces troops stationed at Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, opened fire with heavy weaponry onto villages. A shell exploded in Shan Htu Village, killing an 80-year-old man named Than Mya, who died from gunshot wounds.

မေလ ၁၂ ရက်နေ့၊ ညနေ ၄ နာရီဝန်းကျင်တွင် စစ်ကိုင်းတိုင်း၊ ချောင်းဦးမြို့နယ်၌ အထိုင်ချတပ်စွဲ ထားသော အကြမ်းဖက်စစ်အုပ်စုတပ်က ကျေးရွာများသို့ လက်နက်ကြီးများဖြင့် ပစ်ခတ်တိုက်ခိုက်ခဲ့ရာ ရှမ်းထူးကျေးရွာအတွင်းသို့ ကျရောက်ပေါက်ကွဲခဲ့သောကြောင့် အသက် ၈၀ နှစ်အရွယ် ဒေါ်သန်းမြအား ကျည်စထိမှန်ကာ သေဆုံးခဲ့သည်။

Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date - 13 May 2026

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,041) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (30,977) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,214) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to May 13, 2026, (94) people in total; (47) women and (47) men, were killed by the junta in Sagaing Region, including (17) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (76) people who were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (236) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On the afternoon of March 23, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing with jet fighter aircraft on Thaung Gyi Village, Myaung Township, Sagaing Region. The explosion in the northern part of the village killed five residents and a five-year-old child, as a result of bomb shrapnel.

According to the data collected by the AAPP, from January 1 to April 30, 2026, (75) children in total under the age of 18; (36) girls and (39) boys, were killed by the junta across the country, including a two-month-old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, Bago Region records the highest number of deaths, totaling (25), followed by (16) people in Sagaing Region. Moreover, among the (75) deceased, (48) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death, followed by (17) people who were killed after being detained by the junta.

On March 13, Light Infantry Battalion No. 307 (LIB-307), based in Shwe War Village, Paenwekone Town, attacked villages in Kyaukta Township, Bago Region, using drones and heavy weaponry. The explosion struck Thea Hpyu Ywar Thit Village, killing four members of the family, Win Zaw, his wife Mar Lar Win, and their children Myat Min Thu and Naing Naing Maw.
