Sermpanya Foundation

Sermpanya Foundation We use the power of film to bring hope and change lives.

Our Sermpanya Foundation in Thailand serves those displaced through conflict or economic hardship, migrants and other vulnerable populations Responding to the needs of refugees displaced by over 3 decades of conflict along the Thai Myanmar border, FilmAid Asia was set up in 2011 as a registered charity in Hong Kong. Supported by the generosity of a dedicated board of philanthropic business leaders

and entrepreneurs and an annual fundraising Power of Film Gala, FilmAid Asia’s Thailand programme have been able to bring education, information and inspiration to nine refugee camps, migrant communities and host villages situated along the Thailand Myanmar border for over 8 years. In July FilmAid Asia passed its operations to our Sermpanya Foundation in Thailand, which was created in 2015 to allow our programmes to reach not only the refugee camps but also to include migrant communities, ethnic Thai Karen villages and to bring cross border mobile cinema screenings in Myanmar.

We share with you today our poster, designed by one of our talented refugee team members, marking World Refugee Day 2025.
As refugees on the Thai Myanmar border face an uncertain future in the face of drastic cuts to humanitarian aid funding, we at Sermpanya Foundation stand in Solidarity with Refugees and all those displaced through conflict and disaster. We ask that you keep refugees and those displaced, in your thoughts and support with whatever you can. Each donation, however small, can make a big difference. Thank you.

Today is 4 April 2025 - a day marking the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action highlighting the dangers posed by landmines and the ongoing global efforts for their removal. The theme for 2025, “Safe Futures Start Here”, emphasizes the importance of ensuring a landmine-free world. The devastating earthquake in Myanmar has also shone a spotlight on the onging civil war to the rest of the world and the need to agree an urgent permanent ceasefire and peaceful resolution to rebuild the country. Conflict areas in Myanmar are highly contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordinance - many in areas also affected by the devastating earthquake. Your support can help share Explosive Ordinance and Risk Education (EORE) to thousands of people displaced by conflict on the Thai-Myanmar border through our mobile cinema network and partners. www.sermpanya.org/donate. Thank you.
