Representatives of Thailand’s Key Development Institutions and Business Associations to Participate in the 2nd Russian–Thai Investment Forum

🤝 On September 7, as part of preparations for the 2nd Russian–Thai Investment Forum (RTIF2026) in Bangkok, Vladimir Kovalev, Executive Director of the Russian–Thai Business Council (RTBC), held meetings with Dr. Poj Aramwattananont, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, and Wimon Punkong, Deputy Executive Director (Academic) of the International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD) under Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce.

🗣 Vladimir Kovalev and Dr. Poj Aramwattananont discussed the programme of the upcoming Forum. The RTBC Executive Director presented the concept of the business event and its key thematic tracks. Particular attention was given to agriculture and food security.

As part of the 2nd RTIF, a dedicated session, round tables and B2B meetings are planned, bringing together major producers, consumers and distributors of food products, wine, and fertilizers from Russia and Thailand. The parties also discussed the organisation of a joint session involving the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Russia and Thailand.

👥 During the meeting with Wimon Punkong, the parties discussed the development of expert and analytical cooperation between Russia and Thailand in the context of the upcoming Forum, including current issues related to facilitating bilateral trade.

“Thailand has expressed strong interest in concluding a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). In order to make a decision on launching such negotiations, it is necessary to establish an appropriate analytical foundation: assess the potential positive effects of such an agreement and preliminarily identify the most promising product groups for reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers. This is an area where we could work together with the International Institute for Trade and Development,” said Vladimir Kovalev during the meeting.

📝 In addition, Vladimir Kovalev and Wimon Punkong agreed to prepare joint studies on promising economic sectors in Russia and Thailand. These will include areas such as sustainable energy, the platform economy, and financial infrastructure.

Separate sessions dedicated to these topics will also be held as part of the upcoming Forum.

RTBC Chairman Ivan Demchenko Presents Vision for the Business Environment of the Future at EEF 2026

🗣 Ivan Demchenko, Chairman of the Russian–Thai Business Council (RTBC), spoke at the session “Business Environment of the Future: Global Experience and New Solutions” on September 3 as part of the Eastern Economic Forum 2026 (EEF 2026).

📊 In his speech, Ivan Demchenko focused on the key factors that are shaping business activity and international trade amid today’s geopolitical environment.

Global trade today is driven not only by demand, costs, and access to financing. According to the RTBC Chairman, security and new logistics routes are playing an increasingly important role in economic processes.

“When we talk about global logistics, we often hear the words ‘transformation,’ ‘a new architecture,’ and ‘the restructuring of supply chains.’ But behind these terms are very concrete needs. We need new connections, new terminals, new capacities, new services, and new forms of partnership between cargo owners, operators, ports, railways, and the state,” said Ivan Demchenko.

❗️Another key factor, according to the RTBC Chairman, is access to new markets and consumers.

The markets of the Asian region are becoming one of the most promising destinations for Russian exporters. Demand for infrastructure, housing, industrial construction, energy, transportation, and new cities is actively growing across the region, and this trend is expected to strengthen further over time.

“When we open a new route, we are not simply changing the destination port. We are reaching new markets and new customers. And every market has its own standards and requirements for quality, packaging, labeling, certification, payment terms, documentation, insurance, services, and delivery schedules.

Therefore, it is not enough simply to find an open market. We need to understand in advance which market will become truly significant in four or five years, in line with the next economic and technological cycle,” concluded Ivan Demchenko, Chairman of RTBC.

RTBC and REC Sign Agreement on the Operation of the “Made in Russia” National Pavilion in Thailand

🤝 The Russian–Thai Business Council (RTBC) and the Russian Export Center (REC, part of VEB.RF Group) have signed an agreement on the establishment and operation of the “Made in Russia” Russian National Pavilion in Thailand.

The agreement was signed on September 3 on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2026 by Ivan Demchenko, Chairman of RTBC, and Veronika Nikishina, Director General of REC.

🏆 RTBC was selected as the winner of the competitive selection process for operators of the “Made in Russia” national pavilions, conducted by REC in July.

As the operator of the national pavilion, RTBC will provide comprehensive support in promoting Russian food and industrial products and services in Thailand, including the organization of exhibitions, business meetings, and marketing activities aimed at attracting Thai buyers and business partners.

“Trade between Russia and Thailand has been growing rapidly in recent years, but I am confident that these economic indicators can and should be increased significantly. The current level of trade does not yet reflect the scale and potential of our two countries, which are united by longstanding friendly relations.

The opening of a permanent pavilion for Russian national products in Thailand will bring trade and investment cooperation between our countries to a qualitatively new level. The pavilion will serve as an effective business platform for Russian exporters, offering a comprehensive range of tools to support their expansion into the Thai market — from providing a venue for negotiations and organizational and legal support to assistance with product certification and marketing.”

The Russian–Thai Business Council (RTBC) and Saint Petersburg State University (SPbSU) Sign Cooperation Agreement

✅ The Russian–Thai Business Council (RTBC) and Saint Petersburg State University (SPbSU) signed a cooperation agreement on September 2 on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2026, held in Vladivostok.

The agreement was signed by Vladimir Kovalev, Executive Director of RTBC, and Anastasia Yarmosh, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of SPbSU.

🤝 The partnership aims to strengthen educational, scientific, academic, and cultural ties between the two organizations.

The cooperation will include the organization of joint educational and scientific events, participation of RTBC representatives in SPbSU educational programmes, and the involvement of SPbSU experts in events organized by RTBC.

In particular, a SPbSU delegation is scheduled to participate in the 2nd Russian–Thai Investment Forum, which will take place in Bangkok on October 29–31, 2026.

In addition, the agreement will enable the two parties to implement joint research and analytical projects and develop online courses in areas of mutual interest.

Interregional Cooperation Between Russia and Thailand on the Agenda of the Eastern Economic Forum

🗣 Vladimir Kovalev, Executive Director of the Russian–Thai Business Council (RTBC), spoke at the session “Interregional Cooperation in Eurasia,” held in Vladivostok on September 2 as part of the Eastern Economic Forum 2026.

In his remarks, he highlighted key areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Russia and Thailand, as well as opportunities to further develop bilateral ties by leveraging the complementary potential of regions in both countries.

🇹🇭 According to Vladimir Kovalev, Thailand currently offers highly favorable conditions for doing business. One of RTBC’s key objectives is to help Russian entrepreneurs, including those from the regions, discover and take advantage of these opportunities.

To this end, RTBC organizes the annual Russian–Thai Investment Forum (RTIF) — a universal B2B platform for finding business partners and developing joint projects. The upcoming 2nd Russian–Thai Investment Forum, which will take place in Bangkok on October 29–31, will place particular emphasis on the regional cooperation agenda.

“The Forum will feature the Days of Moscow in Bangkok. We are also planning extensive participation from a delegation of the Krasnodar Region. The region is keen to develop active cooperation with Thailand across a wide range of areas, including tourism, agriculture, transport and logistics, among others. As part of the preparations for the Forum, a catalogue of promising investment projects is being compiled, which will certainly include proposals from Russian regions,” emphasized Vladimir Kovalev.

❗️According to the RTBC Executive Director, in today’s geo-economic environment, it is important to establish concrete institutional, organizational and financial mechanisms to facilitate the implementation of business projects. These include mechanisms to reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers, simplify certification procedures, accelerate logistics routes, and facilitate mutual settlements.
