ECUL Ignites the Year with Energy and Inspiration!
A Vibrant Start to the 2025–2026 Academic Journey
On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the English Club of Université de Lomé (ECUL) proudly held its first weekly meeting of the academic year at Bloc Sportif et Culturel. Starting right at 9:00 a.m., the event brought together a dynamic crowd of students eager to learn, share, and grow through English.
The day began on a spirited note with the Opening Anthem, followed by a creative self-introduction warm-up, where members sang their names turning introductions into a joyful performance. The music group then filled the hall with soulful melodies, and the poetry group followed with stirring verses that moved and inspired the audience.
Energy and laughter filled the air during the colour-jumping game, one of the morning’s favourite moments. The sketch group delivered a short but meaningful performance reminding everyone to stay focused on academic goals.
The meeting’s intellectual highlight was a debate led by the ENS team on the topic “Mobile phones should be banned at school.” Both sides delivered strong, thought-provoking arguments that sparked reflection and conversation.
Next, an alphabetical word challenge tested participants’ creativity and quick thinking, adding more fun to the day.
A captivating exchange session followed on “English as a Gateway to Global Opportunities.” Led by Mr Barnabas Anani. This talk provided personal insights and motivating experiences that underscored the importance of mastering English in opening doors worldwide.
The dance group then set the stage alive with an energetic performance that got everyone moving, before the executive team took the floor to express heartfelt thanks and words of encouragement for members’ engagement.
Adding to the emotional moment, Mr Damboame Kampaguibe, a former president of ECUL, shared his warm appreciation and inspiring words with both old and new members.
After a few final remarks and the Closing Anthem, the session ended on a truly high note, filled with laughter, learning, and unity.
What a start to a promising year! The first ECUL meeting of 2025–2026 was not just an event, it was a celebration of talent, teamwork, and the power of English.
