Performing live at the FESWATU May Day Celebration are the SOUL BROTHERS.

The Soul Brothers are one of South Africa’s most legendary MBHACANGA bands, formed in 1974 in KwaZulu-Natal. The group was founded by musicians including David Masondo (lead vocalist) and Moses Ngwenya (keyboardist), who became the backbone of the band for decades.

They rose to fame in the late 1970s and 1980s with their rich, soulful sound that blended traditional Zulu rhythms with modern instruments. Their music often focused on everyday struggles, love, and social issues, which made them deeply relatable to many South Africans.

Over the years, the Soul Brothers released DOZENS OF ALBUMS reportedly over 40 and became one of the best-selling groups in South African music history. Their consistency and loyal fan base kept them relevant for decades, even as musical trends changed.

The band continues performing and recording well into the 2000s. Despite changes in membership and the passing of key figures, their legacy remains strong as pioneers of mbaqanga music and as cultural icons in South Africa.
