By strengthening waste management systems and investing in circular economy solutions, Eswatini is advancing both national environmental security and our shared global mission to protect people and the planet.
Backed by a USD 4.9 million investment from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the five-year initiative (2025–2030) will strengthen institutional and regulatory capacity, safeguard public health, and enhance environmental resilience across the country.
The Eswatini Environment Authority, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), have officially launched the transformative project: “Reduced Risks on Human Health and the Environment Through Reduction of POPs and UPOPs in Eswatini.”
The project was launched on 13 February 2026 in Manzini, bringing together stakeholders from government, international organizations, private sector, academia, civil society, local communities, and the media.

In 2025, the United Nations in Eswatini worked collectively to deliver tangible, results-oriented support aligned with national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.

2025 also marked the final year of implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2021–2025, concluding a five-year cycle of coordinated UN support and partnership with the Government and people of Eswatini.

The 2025 Annual Results Report captures the collective achievements of the UN Country Team over this period, highlighting progress across key priority areas including sustainable and inclusive economic growth; social and human capital development; governance, justice and human rights; and natural resource management and climate resilience.

Together, these results demonstrate the value of delivering as One - translating partnerships into progress and laying a stronger foundation for the next phase of development cooperation under the UNSDCF 2026–2030, in the final five years toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
