Violence against healthcare workers and facilities, including maternity wards, leave pregnant women with no access to skilled obstetric care, increasing the risk of childbirth becoming a life-threatening emergency.

Deliberate attacks on healthcare are a violation of international humanitarian law. Global leaders must prioritize the protection of aid workers, health facilities, health workers and the people they serve, take actions to stop attacks on humanitarian assistance and healthcare, and end impunity for perpetrators.

Under the theme of "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations," this year’s International Youth Day highlighted a powerful reality: no matter where young people grow up or what obstacles they navigate, they share a singular vision for a better future. Their ambitions are universal access to quality education, equal opportunity, meaningful jobs, dignity, and a real seat at the decision-making table.

The Ministry of Sport, Culture & Youth Affairs, UNFPA Eswatini, Eswatini National Youth Council, and the European Union in Eswatini officially commemorated International Youth Day 2026 at Siphocosini Inkhundla. Bringing together the youth, government officials, civil society, and development partners, the gathering was both a celebration of youth led impact and an urgent call to action to unlock greater pathways for the country's rising generation.
