Mbangweni - UNFPA Eswatini continued to partner with Khulisa Umtfwana to support the Umhlanga Social Behavioural Change Campaign through the SYP UNFPA Safeguard Young People Programme during the 2nd 2026 National Reed Dance which took place at the royal residence at Mbangweni , Nhlangano . A total of 50 peer educators were deployed across the camp site to facilitate small group dialogues.

This initiative creates safe spaces for meaningful conversations and education on sexual and reproductive health (SRHR) , HIV prevention, delaying sexual debut, GBV prevention, and positive cultural norms and values.

Through peer education, musical performances, group discussions and community engagement, the campaign created multiple platforms to reach and engage young people.When young people are empowered, communities thrive. Every young person counts.”Sichakazile sitakuncoba kuhlukubeteka”

𝐑𝐀𝐆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐃 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐓 ( 𝟐𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝟐𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔)

Serving as a critical annual milestone for the Regional Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and HIV Programme in Southern Africa, the 2026 Regional Advisory Group (RAG) meeting in Eswatini convened a high-level delegation comprising officials from EKN South Africa, Maputo, Angola, and Zimbabwe officials, UN representatives from UNDP Eswatini, IOM Eswatini, and UNFPA, international and national partners as well as the Eswatini's Ministry of Health Eswatini. The meeting programme included high-impact field visits and engagement across key sites. : On Monday, delegates gathered at Ezulwini Happy Valley Hotel for the UNDPParents United and Care for all Children( PUCAC )meeting, highlighting Dutch supported initiatives on key populations, WeBelongAfrica (WBA) and the Inclusive Governance Initiative (IGI). The delegation then travelled to Big Bend Game 5 to learn more about the IOM and Save the Children SRHR–HIV Knows No Borders project and its efforts to strengthen access to sexual and reproductive health and HIV services for migrants.

On Tuesday morning, the delegation visited Siphofaneni Clinic, where they engaged with READY+ , peer educators and service providers advocating for vulnerable adolescents and young people living with HIV . Representatives from the Ministry of Health of the Government of Eswatini also joined the engagement and delivered remarks on behalf of the Ministry of Health Principal Secretary, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and improving health outcomes for adolescents and young people.
The day concluded with social and behavioral change activities at the Umhlanga Reed Dance at Ludzidzini Royal Residence, implemented under the UNFPA Safeguard Young People (SYP) programme through Khulisa Umtfwana. The activities provided an important platform to engage young people and communities on SRHR, HIV prevention and healthy behaviours within a culturally significant national event.
