HOW IS THE Y4C PROJECT DOING?

YOMA INTERNS. LEARNING. SERVING. GROWING.

Across Eswatini, young people are gaining practical experience while contributing to communities, organisations and national development. Through the Youth 4 Change programme and the Yoma World platform, interns have been placed with different organisations, putting their skills into practice and gaining valuable exposure to the world of work.

From supporting community development activities with Youthlet, to working as peer educators with ENYC at the Eswatini International Trade Fair, contributing to the Children and Youth Development Programme at the Ministry of Agriculture, and supporting SAfAIDS peer education activities during Umhlanga our YOMA interns are learning by doing.

SUPPORTING THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH TO TAKE PrEP SERVICES CLOSER TO COMMUNITIES

Young Heroes was pleased to support the Ministry of Health during a learning exchange visit involving delegations from Kenya and Zambia, focused on strengthening PrEP monitoring, evaluation, service delivery and data use for pregnant and breastfeeding women. As part of the exchange, Young Heroes supported community mobilisation activities in Siphocosini, where participants observed PrEP service delivery through a mobile unit. The approach demonstrated how HIV prevention services can be brought closer to women within the communities where they live and access care.

The visit created an opportunity to share practical experiences from Eswatini, including how community mobilisation can complement health service delivery and strengthen access, uptake, adherence and continuity of PrEP among pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Young Heroes continues to support national efforts led by the Ministry of Health to strengthen HIV prevention and improve health outcomes for women, mothers and their babies.

YOUNG HEROES AT UMHLANGA

Young Heroes had the privilege of engaging with maidens during the Umhlanga Reed Dance, creating space for meaningful conversations on abstinence and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The discussions encouraged maidens to make informed choices, understand their rights, recognise violence in all its forms, and speak out or seek support when needed.

Knowledge strengthens choices. Every informed young woman carries the power to shape a safer future for herself and her community.

20 YEARS OF SERVICE. ONE YOUNG HEROES.

Today, the Young Heroes team continued our staff build-up activities towards the 20th Anniversary celebrations through a gardening activity at Ludziwane Neighbourhood Care Point, Ekuhlaleni Umphakatsi, under Sandleni Inkhundla.Colleagues from across departments worked side by side to prepare and tend the garden a space that will produce food and contribute to the nourishment of children who access services at the Care Point.For Young Heroes, service is often found in these practical acts: hands in the soil, food growing from the ground and people working together for the wellbeing of children.

As we approach 20 years, we remain grounded in the communities we serve and grateful for every opportunity to contribute.A garden. A shared effort. Food for young lives.This is how we build towards 20, with service.

The Young Heroes team participated in the SM3 Training in Durban, strengthening our capacity to design, measure, and demonstrate impact through high-quality monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems. As part of the training, we shared our "Baseline Success Story: From Listening to Measurable Change", highlighting how meaningful community consultation, clear measurement frameworks, and child-centered approaches can transform good intentions into measurable outcomes.
The presentation showcased lessons from the Litsemba ECCE Project baseline in Shiselweni, where communities, caregivers, teachers, and children helped shape tools that reflect real-life experiences and realities. Together, we continue building evidence that informs action and creates lasting change for children.
