📍In Saida, Daraa, families used to wait up to 20 days for water.

Today, thanks to solar-powered upgrades on three municipal wells, most households now receive water every 7–8 days — clean, predictable, and safe.

With support from International Relief Teams (IRT), Relief International installed a hybrid solar-grid system, added continuous chlorination which removes any harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites, and trained local operators to maintain the system for years to come.

This simple, climate–smart investment is now serving nearly 7,000 people and reducing dependence on costly tanker water.

Amid ongoing instability, we are committed to partnering with local Syrian communities to save lives and help build greater resilience. 💙

In western Deir ez-Zor, Basma’s triplet daughters were fighting acute malnutrition. With limited resources, she turned to a Relief International-supported clinic — and found life-saving care.

Thanks to therapeutic food, close follow-up, and support from the team, the girls began to recover. “Before, they couldn’t move. Now they walk and ask for food,” Basma says.

This is one of many stories made possible by Relief International, with funding from the Syria Humanitarian Fund (SHF).

“She felt dizzy and would suddenly drop to the ground,” recalls Jasim, Amina’s father. “She had headaches and was too tired to play with her sisters.”
At Al-Muhimida Health Center in Deir ez-Zor, tests revealed severe anemia. The team provided iron supplements, essential vitamins, and practical nutrition advice her family could afford.
With regular follow-ups and lab checks, Amina’s hemoglobin returned to normal. “Each month, her numbers improved,” says Dr. Saleh, the health program lead.
Today, Amina is back in school and playing with her sisters. “The difference is clear,” Jasim smiles. “Before, she would get dizzy and feel sick. Now she studies and plays.”
Funded by the Syria Humanitarian Fund (SHF) and implemented by Relief International, this project ensures families can access consultations, lab tests, and medicines when they need them most.

On 22 December 2025, Saraqib Hospital was officially inaugurated in Saraqib, marking a critical step in addressing the humanitarian needs of returnees and residents in a heavily devastated area. The inauguration, supported by Relief International, was attended by the Minister of Health, the Governor of Idlib, the Director of Health in Idlib, and humanitarian partners.

Saraqib Hospital is the only general hospital in the region providing free, 24/7 healthcare services, including inpatient care, intensive care, and life-saving surgeries. It currently serves around 13,000 patients every month, alongside a growing number of emergency cases as families return to the area.

“Saraqib is a devastated area with no health services. This hospital is the only facility providing free care in the region,” said Ahmed Al-Assad, stressing the need for sustained support to keep services accessible to all.

Osama Al Mustafa, Northwest Syria Area Manager at Relief International, highlighted the hospital’s vital role in supporting returns and stability after repeated relocations and rising emergency needs.

By restoring access to essential healthcare, Saraqib Hospital is helping rebuild confidence, dignity, and a sense of normal life, making safe and sustainable returns possible for thousands of families in northwest Syria.
