Call for Chevening Alumni in the Arab World– Arab MedEd
AMES is leading the launch of Arab MedEd, a bilingual (Arabic–English), peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to medical education in the Arab world.
The initiative is being developed by Chevening Alumni Ghaith Alfakhry and Muhammad Alghshi and is currently being submitted to the Chevening Alumni Fund, with institutional support from partners in the United Kingdom and Germany. AMES is the lead and implementing applicant for the project.
We are inviting Chevening Alumni from Syria and across the Arab world to join us at this early, foundational stage.
We are particularly interested in alumni with experience or interest in:
• Medical and health professions education
• Medical ethics
• Equity, diversity, inclusion, and gender (EDI/GESI)
• Public or health policy
• Project management
• Marketing, communications, and academic branding
• Academic publishing, peer review, and editorial work
At this stage, involvement focuses on contributing to the Chevening funding proposal. If the project is funded, further roles may follow, including editorial, review, management, and communications positions within the journal.
Arab MedEd aims to strengthen regional academic capacity, promote Arabic as a language of scholarship alongside English, and foster cross-border dialogue in medical education across the Arab world.
📩 Interested Chevening Alumni are invited to get in touch with a short message outlining their background and potential contribution:
