Caritas Syria (Caritas Syria) is part of Caritas Internationalis Humanitarian and Development Organization of the Caritas is a Latin word which means love.

In 1897, the first ever Caritas was founded in Germany. Out of the suffering created by the two World Wars, the need for national Catholic humanitarian organizations arises and Caritas begins to grow. In Syria, the Council of the heads of the Catholic Churches founded (Caritas Syria) in 1954. With the beginning of the Iraqi war, Caritas played an important role in providing assistance to Iraqi re

fugees, particularly in Al-Jazirah region. In 2011, with the beginning of the war in Syria and to meet the growing need among the Syrian community, Caritas began to expand its capacity and centers in order to reach a larger number of beneficiaries without discrimination between sect, doctrine or religion. The number of Offices, centers and staff have increased to cover now five regions: Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Coastal Area and Al Hassakah. Caritas Syria is always ready to intervene in emergency situations. Therefore, Since the onset of the Syrian crisis, Caritas has provided sustained assistance in emergencies. Caritas assisted IDPs from Ma'aloula, Dara'a, Kessab, Assyrian villages around Al Hasakah, Students of 'Ekrimah Al Makhzoumi School in Homs and Al Manar School in Damascus.These cases always come as our priority in order to be able to offer support to the neediest. بهدف مساعدة العائلات المستضعفة للاعتماد على الذات، نظّمت كاريتاس سورية - مكتب المنطقة الوسطى في حمص، دورة تدريبية لمدة خمسة أيام، عن إدارة المشروعات الصغيرة ومتناهية الصغر، ضمن برنامج سبل العيش لعدد من المستفيدات والمستفيدين من مدينة حمص، لمساعدتهم في زيادة المعرفة والمهارات وتحضيراً لإمكانية دعم البعض منهم، وفقاً لمعايير محدّدة ضمن قطّاع التعافي، بمنحٍ ماليةٍ لتوسيع أو استعادة مشروعهم وذلك بإشراف مرشدين من المنظمة.
With aim of helping vulnerable Families to become self-reliant, Caritas Syria - Central Area Office in Homs, held Five-Day-Training Course, on Managing Small and Micro Enterprises as part of Livelihoods Program, for number of Beneficiaries from Homs city, to help them increase their knowledge and skills and prepare for possibility of supporting some of them, according to specific criteria within Recovery Sector, with Financial Grants to expand or restore their Projects, under supervision of Mentors from Organization.

سعياً لتعزيز الصحة النفسية للمستفيدين وبالتزامن مع اختتام جلسات المجموعة الأولى من برنامج الدعم النفسي الاجتماعي الذي تنفّذه كاريتاس سورية – مكتب دمشق في المركز المجتمعي بجديدة عرطوز، نظّم الفريق نشاطاً ترفيهياً خارجياً، تضمّن مجموعة من الأنشطة التفاعلية والمسابقات الثقافية، التي هدفت إلى خلق مساحة آمنة للمرح وتعزيز الروابط الاجتماعية ودعم المشاركين في رحلتهم نحو رفاه نفسي أفضل.
To promote Beneficiaries’ Mental Health and coinciding with conclusion of Psychosocial Support Program first group sessions, implemented by Caritas Syria – Damascus Office at Jdaydet ‘Artouz Community Center, Team held Outdoor Recreational Event, included several Interactive Activities and Cultural Competitions, aimed to create safe space for fun, enhance social bonds and support Participants on their journey towards better psychological well-being.

نظّمت كاريتاس سورية – مكتب المنطقة الوسطى في حماة، ضمن إطار المشروع الطبي، جلسة توعية استهدفت عدداً من السيدات حول خشونة الركبة (التهاب مفصل الركبة التنكسي) تضمنت عدة محاور، بدأت بتعريف عام عن المفاصل، تلاه شرح مفصّل عن مفصل الركبة وأعراض التهاب المفصل التنكسي وأسبابه، بالإضافة إلى الفئات الأكثر عرضة للإصابة. كما تم التطرق إلى أساليب العلاج المتاحة، سواء الدوائية أو غير الدوائية. وفي الختام، قُدّمت مجموعة من النصائح الهامة للوقاية من خشونة الركبة والحفاظ على صحة المفاصل وتم توزيع الهدايا على المشاركات.
Caritas Syria - Central Area Office in Hama and as part of Medical Project, held Awareness Session targeting number of Women, on Knee Osteoarthritis (degenerative knee joint inflammation) included several topics, starting with general definition of joints, followed by detailed explanation of knee joint, osteoarthritis symptoms and causes, in addition to groups most susceptible to disease. Available treatment methods, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, were also discussed. In conclusion, set of important tips were presented for preventing knee osteoarthritis and maintaining joint health and Gifts were distributed to Participants.

نفّذ فريق البرنامج الطبي في كاريتاس سورية - مكتب دمشق، جلسات توعية حول الأمراض المنقولة بالماء والغذاء، توجّهوا من خلالها للأطفال المسجَلين في مركزها المجتمعي بمنطقة الدويلعة، سعياً إلى تعريفهم بأهم بالأعراض المرافقة لكل مرض وتعزيز السلوكيات الوقائية مثل غسل اليدين وشرب المياه النظيفة، لتجنّب انتشار أي عدوى. واختتم النشاط بتوزيع مستلزمات صحّية، ليتمكنوا من استخدامها بشكل شخصي (معقم، صابون، مشط، شامبو، منشفة وحافظة مياه) لمساعدتهم في تنفيذ الإجراءات الوقائية اللازمة.
Medical Program Team at Caritas Syria - Damascus Office, held Awareness Sessions on Waterborne and Foodborne diseases, targeting Children registered at its Community Center in Al Dweil’ah area, to introduce them to most important symptoms associated with each disease and promote preventative behaviors, such as handwashing and drinking clean water, to avoid spread of any infection among them. Activity concluded with distributing Hygiene Kits, so that they could use them personally (Sanitizer, soap, comb, shampoo, towel and gourd) to help them implement necessary preventive measures.

نفّذت كاريتاس سورية – مكتب حلب، برنامج الدعم النفسي الاجتماعي، الذي يهدف إلى تمكين مقدّمي الرعاية عبر تعزيز مهاراتهم الوالدية وترسيخ ممارسات الرعاية الذاتية، كما تضمّن جلسات مخصّصة للأطفال، تُساهم في مساعدتهم على التعرّف على مشاعرهم والتعبير عنها وإدارتها بطريقة صحية وبنّاءة.
Caritas Syria – Aleppo Office, held Psychosocial Support Program, which aims to empower Caregivers by enhancing their parenting skills and establishing self-care practices. It also included Sessions specifically for Children, which help them to recognize, express and manage their feelings in healthy and constructive way.

زار عدد من الشركاء مع الجهة الداعمة من لجنة التعاون السويسرية، عدداً من البرامج التي تنفذها كاريتاس سورية – مكتب دمشق، شملت المراكز التي يقام فيها البرنامج التعليمي، حيث اطّلع الوفد على آليات عمل دروس التقوية وجلسات الدعم النفسي الاجتماعي، إضافة إلى زيارة مجموعة من المستفيدين ممن أطلقوا مشاريعهم الخاصة من خلال دعم المنح المقدّمة ضمن برنامج سبل العيش واطّلعوا على أثرها في تحسين ظروفهم المعيشية. وفي ختام الجولة، اجتمع الوفد مع الممثلين المجتمعيين في منطقة جديدة عرطوز، بهدف مناقشة سير برنامج التماسك المجتمعي والاطلاع على الخطط المستقبلية.
Several Partners, along with supporting side from Swiss Cooperation Committee, visited number of Programs implemented by Caritas Syria - Damascus Office, included Centers where Educational Program is being held and delegation was briefed on mechanisms of Remedial Classes and Psychosocial Support Sessions, in addition to visiting group of Beneficiaries who launched their own Projects through support of Grants offered within Livelihoods Program and learning about its impact on improving their living conditions. At the end of tour, they met with Community Representatives at Jdaydet ‘Artouz area, with aim of discussing Social Cohesion Program progress and reviewing future plans.

قامت كاريتاس سورية بتنظيم مجموعات نقاش مركّزة، استهدفت مستفيدي مكتب المنطقة الوسطى في حمص، من الحاصلين على المساعدة المالية متعددة الأغراض والمساعدة المالية الشتوية وذلك ضمن إطار مشروع كارما 5. بدأت الجلسات بطرح أسئلة إرشادية هدفت إلى استكشاف أثر هذه المساعدات على حياتهم اليومية، بالإضافة إلى الاطمئنان على سير عملية تسليمها من حيث الآلية والتنظيم. كما تم التطرق إلى التحديات والصعوبات التي واجهها المستفيدون خلال مراحل الاستفادة. وفي ختام اللقاءات، جرى التشاور مع المشاركين حول سبل تطوير العمل بما يضمن تحقيق فائدة أكبر، إلى جانب توضيح آلية الشكاوى المعتمدة لدى كاريتاس سورية وذلك تعزيزاً لمبدأ الشفافية وبناء الثقة.
Caritas Syria held Focus Group discussions, targeting Central Area Office in Homs Beneficiaries, who receive Multi-Purpose and Winter Financial Assistance, as part of CARMA Project. Sessions started with guiding questions aimed at exploring impact of this aid on their daily lives, in addition to ensuring smooth progress of delivery process in terms of mechanism and organization. Challenges and difficulties faced by Beneficiaries during benefit stages were also discussed. At meetings conclusion, consultations took place with Participants, on ways to improve work, to ensure greater benefit and explain complaints mechanism adopted by Caritas Syria, to strengthen transparency principle and build trust.

بمناسبة اختتام الدورة الموسيقية الأولى في مركز كاريتاس سورية، نظم مكتب حلب -مشروع الشيخ أبو بكر، حفلاً ختامياً بحضور أهالي الأطفال المشاركين، حيث قدّموا مجموعة من الألحان والمعزوفات والأغاني التي تدرّبوا عليها طوال فترة الدورة، في أجواء مفعمة بالفخر والفرح بما حققوه من تقدُّم.
Marking first Music Course conclusion at Caritas Syria Center – Aleppo Office – Al Sheikh Abou Baker Project Team, held closing ceremony attended by participating Children Families, during which they performed collection of melodies, instrumental pieces and songs they learned and practiced throughout Course, in an atmosphere filled with pride and joy at their progress.

نظّم فريق برنامج المساعدات النقدية الذي تنفّذه كاريتاس سورية - مكتب دمشق، ضمن مركزها المجتمعي في جديدة عرطوز، جلسة توعية بالتعاون مع بنك البركة، توجّهوا من خلالها إلى عدد من الصيادلة والمورّدين وأصحاب المهن من أهالي المنطقة، سعياً لتمكينهم من تطوير مهاراتهم في استخدام أنظمة الدفع الإلكتروني.
Cash Assistance Program Team implemented by Caritas Syria - Damascus Office, held Awareness Session on Electronic Payment Mechanism, at its Community Center in Jdaydet ‘Artouz, in cooperation with Al Baraka Bank, targeting number of Pharmacists, Suppliers and Professionals from the area, to enable them to develop their skills in using electronic payment systems.
