تنعى دوركاس سوريا بحزن عميق مؤسسنا، ديرك يان خروت (1945–2026).

رأى ديرك يان معاناة الآخرين ورفض أن يقف متفرجاً. تحدّث عن الاحتياج، وصلّى من أجل المتضررين، وحشد الآخرين، ثم تحرّك. ومن هذه القناعة، انطلقت مسيرة وصلت إلى مجتمعات عديدة، من بينها المجتمعات التي نخدمها في سوريا.

يزيدنا رحيله إصراراً على التمسّك بالرسالة التي حملها: ألّا نغضّ النظر عن المعاناة، وألّا نترك الأشخاص الذين يواجهون الفقر والأزمات وحدهم.

سنواصل ما بدأه. سنبقى قريبين من المجتمعات المتضررة، ونصغي إلى احتياجاتها، ونصون كرامة أفرادها، ونحوّل التعاطف إلى دعم عملي وأمل متجدّد.

نتقدّم بأصدق التعازي إلى عائلته وإلى عائلة دوركاس في جميع أنحاء العالم. ونصلّي أن يمنحهم الله العزاء والقوة.

تقع على عاتقنا مسؤولية مواصلة المسيرة التي بدأتها.

Dorcas Syria mourns with deep sadness the passing of our founder, Dirk Jan Groot (1945–2026).

Dirk Jan saw the suffering of others and refused to remain a witness. He spoke about need, prayed for those affected, mobilised others and took action. From that conviction, a movement began and reached many communities, including those we serve in Syria.

His passing strengthens our determination to hold firmly to the message he carried: never to look away from suffering and never to leave people facing poverty and crisis alone.

We will continue what he started. We will remain close to affected communities, listen to their needs, uphold their dignity, and turn compassion into practical support and renewed hope.

We offer our sincere condolences to his his family and the Dorcas family around the world. We pray that God grants them comfort and strength.

It is our responsibility to carry forward your movement.

May he rest in peace.

We zijn bedroefd door het overlijden van onze oprichter Dirk Jan Groot. Dirk Jan was een pionier met een groot geloof. Zijn geloof kreeg handen en voeten in praktische hulp, bewogenheid en vasthoudende inzet voor mensen in kwetsbare situaties. We zijn dankbaar voor wie hij is geweest en voor wat hij voor Dorcas en voor zoveel mensen heeft betekend.

خطوة على رقعة الشطرنج قد تبدو بسيطة، لكنها تحتاج إلى تركيز، صبر، وتفكير قبل أخذ القرار.

في مركز دوركاس المجتمعي في دير الزور، استخدم الفريق أنشطة قريبة من اليافعين، مثل الشطرنج وكرة القدم، لفتح حوارات حول مهارات الحياة، فهم المشاعر، التواصل، وبناء الثقة بالنفس.

بين لعبة ونقاش، يتعلم اليافعون أن الإصغاء، احترام الدور، التفكير قبل التصرف، والعمل مع الآخرين ليست مهارات للّعب فقط، بل مهارات يحتاجونها في حياتهم اليومية.

A move on a chessboard may seem simple, but it requires focus, patience, and thinking before making a decision.

At the Dorcas Community Center in Deir ez-Zor, the team used activities close to adolescents, such as chess and football, to open conversations around life skills, emotions, communication, and self-confidence.

Between a game and a discussion, adolescents practice listening, taking turns, thinking before acting, and working with others, skills that matter not only in play, but also in daily life.

اجتمع موظفو مركزي الهلك والميدان المجتمعيين في حلب في نشاط لبناء الفريق، خُصص لتعزيز التعاون والتواصل بين الزملاء خارج إطار العمل اليومي.

تخلل اليوم ألعاب تفاعلية وتمارين جماعية ساعدت المشاركين على العمل معًا، تبادل الأفكار، وتقوية الروابط داخل الفريق.

واختُتم النشاط بفقرة إبداعية قام خلالها المشاركون بصناعة بيوت خشبية صغيرة وتلوينها، كتعبير رمزي عن القيم التي تسعى مراكز دوركاس إلى تعزيزها: التعاون، الأمان، والانتماء.

نُفّذ هذا النشاط بدعم من التحالف الهولندي للإغاثة ضمن الاستجابة المشتركة لسوريا.

Staff from Hellok and Al-Midan Community Centers in Aleppo came together for a team-building activity focused on strengthening collaboration and communication beyond the daily work setting.

The day included interactive games and group exercises that encouraged participants to work together, exchange ideas, and build stronger connections as a team.

The activity concluded with a creative session where participants built and painted small wooden houses, symbolizing the values Dorcas seeks to promote through its community centers: cooperation, safety, and belonging.

This activity was implemented with support from the Dutch Relief Alliance through the Syria Joint Response.

في مركز الميدان المجتمعي في حلب، جلس تيم أمام ورقة بيضاء، واختار أن يرسم حلمه.

في لوحته، رسم تيم شخصية طيّار، وكأنّه يضع أمامه صورة للمستقبل الذي يتخيله. بالنسبة له، لم تكن اللوحة مجرد نشاط فني، بل طريقة للتعبير عن طموحه ورغبته في الوصول إلى مكان أبعد.

من خلال جلسات الدعم النفسي الاجتماعي والأنشطة الإبداعية في المركز، يجد الأطفال مثل تيم مساحة آمنة للتعبير عن أفكارهم وأحلامهم، خاصة عندما لا تكفي الكلمات لوصف ما يشعرون به أو ما يتمنونه.

بدعم من التحالف الهولندي للإغاثة ضمن الاستجابة المشتركة لسوريا، بالشراكة مع وزارة الخارجية الهولندية، تواصل دوركاس توفير مساحات تساعد الأطفال على التعبير، بناء الثقة، والتمسك بأحلامهم.

أحيانًا، يبدأ الحلم بورقة بيضاء… ولون يختاره طفل.

At Al-Midan Community Center in Aleppo, Taim sat in front of a blank sheet of paper and chose to draw his dream in colors.

In his artwork, Taim drew a pilot, placing on paper the future he imagines for himself. For him, the drawing was not just an art activity, but a way to express his ambition and his wish to reach further.

Through psychosocial support sessions and creative activities at the center, children like Taim find a safe space to express their thoughts and dreams, especially when words are not enough to describe what they feel or hope for.

With support from the Dutch Relief Alliance through the Syria Joint Response, working in partnership with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dorcas continues to provide spaces where children can express themselves, build confidence, and hold on to their dreams.

Sometimes, a dream begins with a blank page… and a color chosen by a child.

استقبل مركز دير الزور المجتمعي التابع لدوركاس وفداً من مكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية (OCHA) ، ضمّ نائب رئيس المكتب في سوريا، وذلك خلال زيارة ميدانية للاطلاع على الأنشطة والخدمات المقدّمة لدعم المجتمع.

وخلال الزيارة، حضر الوفد جلسة دعم نفسي اجتماعي للأطفال، وتفاعل مع المشاركين واطّلع على الأنشطة الهادفة إلى تعزيز رفاه الأطفال وتنمية مهاراتهم. كما شملت الزيارة جولة في معرض صور من تنظيم أطفال المركز، عبّروا من خلاله عن تجاربهم وأحلامهم بطرق إبداعية.

تعكس هذه الزيارة أهمية دعم المبادرات المجتمعية التي تتيح للأطفال مساحات آمنة للتعلّم، والتعبير، والنمو.

تُنفّذ هذه الأنشطة من قبل دوركاس، بدعم من صندوق سوريا الإنساني (SHF).

Dorcas’ Deir ez-Zor Community Centre welcomed a delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), including the Deputy Head of Office in Syria, during a field visit to learn more about the centre’s activities and services supporting the community.

During the visit, the delegation attended a Psychosocial Support (PSS) session for children, interacted with participants, and observed activities designed to support children’s well-being and skills development. The visit also included a tour of a photo exhibition organized by children at the centre, where they creatively expressed their experiences and dreams.

This visit reflects the importance of supporting community-based initiatives that provide children with safe spaces to learn, express themselves, and grow.
These activities are implemented by Dorcas, with support from the Syria Humanitarian Fund (SHF).

تواصل مديرية الصحة في دير الزور، بالتعاون مع دوركاس، تدريب الكوادر الطبية والتمريضية استعداداً لافتتاح أول قسم للعناية المركزة للرضّع وحديثي الولادة في المحافظة.

وركّز التدريب الثالث، الذي عُقد في 11 حزيران 2026، على العناية المركزة لحديثي الولادة، بهدف تعزيز مهارات العاملين الصحيين ودعم تقديم خدمات صحية متخصصة داخل دير الزور، بما يساهم في تقليل الحاجة إلى إحالة الحالات خارج المحافظة.

تُنفّذ هذه الأنشطة من قبل دوركاس بدعم من صندوق سوريا الإنساني (SHF).

The Directorate of Health in Deir ez-Zor, in collaboration with Dorcas, continues to train medical and nursing staff in preparation for the opening of the first Infant and Neonatal Intensive Care Department in the province.

The third training, conducted on 11 June 2026, focused on neonatal intensive care, aiming to strengthen the skills of healthcare workers and support the provision of specialized healthcare services within Deir ez-Zor, helping reduce the need to refer cases outside the province.

These activities are implemented by Dorcas with support from the Syria Humanitarian Fund (SHF).
