الجهد الثقة والأثر يصنعون الاعتمادية ..

جددت منظمة اليونسكو اعتماد كمنظمة غير حكومية شريكة لأربع سنوات قادمة، في خطوة تؤكد الثقة الدولية المتواصلة بالدور الذي تؤديه المنظمة لحفظ التراث السوري وتعزيز حضوره على المستويين الوطني والعالمي.

تجديد الاعتماد هو نتاج لسنوات من العمل المتخصص لصون وحماية #التراث الثقافي بمختلف أشكاله؛ حيث عملت المنظمة عبر فريقها وخبرائها وبالتعاون مع شركائها المحليين والدوليين على صون اللا مادي من خلال توثيقيه وإدراجه وإبرازه وطنياً ودولياً، بترشيح وإعداد ملفات عناصر التراث الثقافي السوري اللامادي بالشراكة مع وزارة الثقافة السورية إلى قوائم التراث الإنساني، والبدء بتصميم خطط صون لهذه العناصر وتنفيذها عبر فرق مختصة تعمل جنباً إلى جنب مع المجتمعات الحاملة للتراث في مختلف المحافظات، لضمان توثيق المعرفة الشعبية واستدامتها وتوريثها للأجيال القادمة، من خلال تدريبات موجهة تسعى لإشراك الجيل الشاب الأكاديمي بصون ممارساته بطرق مبتكرة تضمن تناقلها، إضافة إلى نشر مواد توثيقية مكتوبة ومرئية، ونقل المعارف المتعلقة والمرتبطة بمفاهيم التراث وصونه إلى المؤسسات الحكومية والأهلية والمنظمات المعنية بحفظ التراث، وقد مكّنها هذا الدور من تعزيز حضور التراث السوري على الساحة الدولية وإبراز تنوّعه وغناه وعمقه التاريخي.

كما تلتزم التنمية السورية بحماية التراث المادي والحفاظ على المواقع التاريخية والتراثية، و #ترميم وإعادة تأهيل المعالم المتضررة في عدة مدن سوريا، بما في ذلك الأسواق القديمة، المواقع الإسلامية والتراثية والمقاصد العمرانية التي تشكّل ركائز الذاكرة الحضرية السورية، وحاضنة لممارسات التراث الثقافي اللامادي، وقد أسهمت هذه الجهود في إعادة الحياة إلى فضاءات تراثية كادت تفقد حضورها، بما يؤكد الرابط الوثيق بين التراثين #المادي و #اللامادي المشكلين لهوية وذاكرة الأماكن والأشخاص.

تجديد #الاعتمادية يعكس الثقة المستمرة بجهودها منذ اعتمادها للمرة الأولى عام 2012 وتجديده عام 2017 ثم دورها عام 2019 كنائب لرئيس منتدى المنظمات غير الحكومية، وخوضها تجربة المشاركة في هيئة التقييم الدولية لتقييم عناصر التراث اللامادي بغية إدراجها على قوائم اليونسكو بدورتين منفصلتين، وهو ما يؤكد موثوقيتها كجهة محلية خبيرة معتمدة في صون التراث الثقافي وفق إتفاقية اليونسكو لعام 2003.

Effort, trust, and impact build credence

UNESCO has renewed the of the Syrian Development Organization as an official NGO partner for the next four years, an affirmation of the continued international confidence in the organization’s role in safeguarding and strengthening its presence nationally and globally.

This renewed accreditation is the result of years of specialized work dedicated to safeguarding and protecting cultural heritage in all its forms. Through its team and experts, and in cooperation with local and international partners, the organization has worked to safeguard Syria’s intangible cultural heritage by documenting, listing, and highlighting it nationally and internationally.

It has prepared and submitted nomination files for elements of Syrian intangible cultural heritage together with the Syrian Ministry of Culture, for inscription on UNESCO’s Lists of Intangible Heritage, in addition to designing and implementing safeguarding plans carried out by specialized teams working hand in hand with the heritage-bearing communities across different governorates.

These efforts ensure the documentation, transmission, and continuity of community knowledge for future generations, engaging young academics in safeguarding their cultural practices through innovative approaches that guarantee their sustainability. The organization has also produced written and visual documentation materials and facilitated the transfer of knowledge related to heritage safeguarding concepts to governmental, local, and civil institutions working in the field. These contributions have strengthened the visibility of Syrian heritage globally, showcasing its richness, diversity, and historical depth.

The also remains committed to safeguarding tangible heritage, protecting historical and cultural sites, and rehabilitating and restoring damaged landmarks in several Syrian cities, including old markets, Islamic and historical sites, and architectural destinations that form the pillars of Syria’s urban memory and serve as living spaces for intangible cultural practices.
These efforts have helped revive heritage spaces that were on the verge of disappearing, reaffirming the deep connection between tangible and intangible heritage as fundamental components of the identity and memory of people and place.

The renewal of the organization’s accreditation reflects ongoing trust in its efforts since its first accreditation in 2012, its renewal in 2017, and its role in 2019 as Vice-Chair of the NGO Forum. It also highlights its experience participating in UNESCO’s Evaluation Body for assessing intangible heritage nomination files over two separate cycles, demonstrating its reliability as a trusted national expert in safeguarding cultural heritage in accordance with UNESCO’s 2003 Convention.

الكُحل العربي يزّين عناصر الهوية السورية على قوائم التراث الإنساني في اليونيسكو

لم تكن #سوريا يوماً سوى موطن الضوء الأول، والأبجدية الأولى، والنوتة الموسيقية الأولى؛ بلادٌ يلمع تراثها كما يلمع سواد الكحل في عيون أبنائها شاهداً على شعوب وحضارات مرّت هنا وتركت أثرها كُحلاً ظهر في التماثيل الأثرية مخبراً عن وجوده في حياة السوريين القدماء.
واليوم يُدرج كعنصر من عناصر التراث الثقافي السوري اللامادي في اجتماع الدورة العشرين للجنة الحكومية الدولية لصون التراث الثقافي اللامادي في الهند، كأول عنصر عربي مشترك مع ثمانية دول عربية تقوده سوريا ليعكس الجذور العربية المشتركة والروابط الثقافية المرتبطة بالإنسان العربي، وهو العنصر التاسع المُدرج باسم سوريا بعد: (الصقارة والقنص، خيال الظل، الممارسات والحرف المرتبطة بالوردة الشامية في المراح، القدود الحلبية، صناعة الأعواد والعزف عليها، نفخ الزجاج السوري التقليدي، صابون الغار، البشت).
يجسد الكحل العربي تكامل البيئات السورية من دير الزور، الحسكة، والرقة، والقامشلي، إلى حماة وطرطوس وصولاً إلى ريف دمشق، ومن حجر الإثمد، فالزيتون والزيزفون و محسّنات الأعشاب التي تزين القرى والجبال، إلى السحن بالهاون، والنار الموقدة فوق تنور قديم، والأغنيات التي تُردَّد من شرق سوريا لغربها، وصولاً للمكاحل النحاسية التي تُنجز بزخارفها على يد الحرفيين؛ وتباع في الأسواق التراثية لتكحل أعين الرجال والنساء والأطفال في مناسباتهم وأفراحهم، طلباً للجمال ودرءاً للحسد واتباعاً لموروث الجدات الحكيمات.
يمثل هذا الاعتراف الدولي تتويجاً لرحلة طويلة من التوثيق والعمل التي شاركنا فيها في منظمة التنمية السورية بالتعاون مع وزارة الثقافة السورية Ministry of Culture, Syrian Arab Republic والمجتمعات الحاملة للعنصر، تلك المجتمعات التي نقلت صناعة الكحل العربي بكل تفاصيلها من يدٍ إلى يد، ومن بيتٍ إلى بيت. وذلك رغم صعوبة الوصول إلى حجر الإثمد، وتغيّر نمط الحياة والاتجاه نحو المستحضرات الحديثة، ورغم الحرب التي دفعت كثيرين إلى التخلي عن صناعاتهم؛ إلا أنّ الجدات وأهل الريف ظلّوا حراساً على طقس الاكتحال وصناعته التقليدية.
إن إدراج الكحل العربي يشبه سوريا التي يحفظ أهلها هويتهم في عيونهم؛ بلادٌ تُعرَف بعيونها الواسعة، بتاريخها الذي لا يُمحى، وبتراثها الذي نعمل في منظمة التنمية السورية على صونه مع المجتمعات المحلية، حفاظاً على إرثٍ لا يفنى، وعلى هويةٍ تتزين بالكحل كما تتزين بالحياة.

Arabic kohl adorns the elements of Syrian identity as it joins UNESCO ’s Intangible Cultural Heritage lists.

has always been the homeland of the first light, the first alphabet, and the first musical note, a land whose heritage shines just as the deep black of kohl shines in the eyes of its people. Kohl appears in ancient statues as a witness to the civilizations that passed through Syria and left their mark, revealing its presence in the lives of early Syrians.
Today, is inscribed as an element of Syria’s intangible heritage during the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in India, the first shared Arab element with eight other Arab countries, led by Syria, reflecting the region’s common roots and cultural connections. It becomes Syria’s ninth registered element, following: falconry, shadow play, the practices and craftsmanship associated with the Damascene rose in Al-Mrah, Al-Qudoud al-Halabiya, Crafting and playing the Oud, traditional Syrian glassblowing, and Ghar soap, Al bisht.
Arabic kohl embodies the harmony of Syria’s diverse environments, from Deir ez-Zur,Al Hasakah, Al Raqqah, and Qamishli, to Hama, Tartus, and Rif Dimashq. From antimony stone, to olives and linden, to herbal blends gathered from villages and mountains; from grinding with stone and heating over old clay ovens, to the songs echoed from east to west, and the copper makahil engraved by artisans and sold in heritage markets. Kohl adorns the eyes of men, women, and children in celebrations and ceremonies, seeking beauty, warding off envy, and honoring the wisdom passed down by grandmothers.
This international recognition crowns a long journey of documentation and collaboration led by the Syrian Development Organization, in partnership with the Syrian Ministry of Culture and the communities that carry this , communities that safeguarded every detail of kohl making from one hand to another, and from one home to the next. Despite the difficulty of accessing antimony stone, the shift toward modern cosmetics, and the impact of war that pushed many away from their crafts, grandmothers and rural families continued to be the guardians of this tradition.
The inscription of Arabic kohl mirrors Syria itself, its people safeguarding their identity in their eyes. A country known for its wide, expressive eyes, its enduring history, and its living heritage, a heritage that we, at the Syrian Development Organization, alongside local communities, continue to safeguard as an unfading legacy and a cultural identity adorned with kohl as it is with life.

كلُّ غرزةٍ تخبرُ عن الأرض، عن القيم، وعن جهدٍ السوريين.. كلُّ قطعة تحكي صدق لابسها ونخوته.
الحرفي السوري "خالد مصباح السقّا" يخبرنا عن رفيقة العمر ... حكايةُ أربعين عاماً من حبِّ صناعة #البِشْت، الحرفة التي ورثها عن والده، وحرص عليها مع مرور الزمن.
ومع إدراج البِشْت على قائمة #اليونسكو للتراث غير المادي، تتعزّز أهمية حماية هذه الحِرف ودعم ممارسيها لتبقى جزءاً حياً من ثقافتنا وتاريخنا.

Syrian craftsman "Khaled Misbah Al-Saqqa" shares the story of a lifelong companion، forty years of devotion to crafting the , a tradition he inherited from his father and safeguarded with care over time.
With the Bisht now inscribed on UNESCO ’s Intangible Cultural List, the importance of safeguarding these crafts and supporting their practitioners grows, so they remain a living part of our and history.

البِشت السوري…يدخل قوائم التراث الإنساني لليونسكو

#البِشت أو "العباءة الرجالية" رمز المَهابة والمكانة، ينسج حكايات المجتمعات البدوية والريفية عبر الأجيال، ويتنقل بين المحافظات الشرقية وأريافها الداخلية حتى المدن السورية القديمة، حاملاً معاني الشهامة والكرم والانتماء العائلي، يُدرج اليوم كعنصر من عناصر #التراث الثقافي السوري اللامادي وعنصر عربي مشترك مع تسع دول عربية في اجتماع الدورة العشرين للجنة الحكومية الدولية لصون التراث الثقافي اللامادي بالهند، ليكون واحداً من عناصر الهوية السورية والعربية التي تعكس التاريخ العريق وتمسك الأبناء بتراثهم.
الإدراج يتوج مساراً طويلاً من العمل والتوثيق، شاركت فيه منظمة التنمية السورية بالتعاون مع وزارة الثقافة السورية Ministry of Culture, Syrian Arab Republic والمجتمعات الحاملة للعنصر، تلك المجتمعات التي حافظت على ورش التطريز اليدوي ونقلت المعرفة من جيلٍ إلى جيل، رغم الحرب التهجير والتحديات المرتبطة باختلاف نمط الحياة ، فالبِشت ليس مجرد عباءة، بل قطعة حياة تُطرَّز يدوياً بخيوط ذهبية وفضية على قماش من وبر الجمال أو شعر الماعز، أو صوف الخراف بمهارة متوارثة عبر الأجيال، لتروي كلُّ غرزة قصّة مجتمعاتها، وتعكس الكرم العربي والمكانة الاجتماعية لمرتديها من كبير العائلة إلى شاب يحتفل بزفافه، أو طفل يُبارك بارتدائه لأول مرة.
اليوم، يصبح البِشت السوري أكثر من لباس؛ يصبح إرثاً إنسانياً يروي قصص #الهوية، ويربط بين الماضي والحاضر، بين البادية والمدن، وبين أصغر الفتيان وشيخ القبيلة، في مشهدٍ يعكس الفخر والانتماء، كما يعكس استمرار التراث السوري الحي في قلب مجتمعاته.

The Syrian cloak (Syrian Bisht) is added to UNESCO’s Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage

The , or traditional men’s cloak, is a symbol of dignity and social stature. It carries the stories of Bedouin and rural communities across generations, traveling from the eastern governorates and their inner countryside to the old Syrian cities, embodying values of honor, generosity, and deep-rooted family identity.
Today, it is officially inscribed as an element of Syria’s intangible cultural and as a shared Arab heritage with nine other Arab countries during the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in India. It becomes one of the Syrian and Arab identity markers that reflect a profound history and a strong attachment to ancestral heritage.
This inscription crowns a long process of dedicated work and documentation carried out by the Syria Development Organization, in cooperation with the Ministry of and the communities who safeguard this tradition. These communities have safeguarded the craft of hand embroidery and the transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next, despite years of war, displacement, and the challenges brought by changing lifestyles.
For the Bisht is more than a cloak; it is a piece of life, hand-embroidered with gold and silver threads on camel hair, goat hair, or sheep wool crafted with skills passed down through generations. Every stitch tells the story of its people, reflecting social status and Arab generosity, while its colors and motifs hold the symbolism of local regions and occasions. It signifies the wearer’s standing, whether a tribal leader, a groom celebrating his wedding, or a child wearing it for the very first time.
Today, the Syrian Bisht becomes more than attire; it becomes a human heritage that tells stories of , connecting past and present, desert and city, the youngest boys and tribal elders reflecting pride, belonging, and the continuity of Syria’s living heritage at the heart of its communities.

بخطواتٍ خجولة وصل مصطفى محمد إلى منارة #الدريكيش، لم يدخلها طالباً فقط، بل إنساناً يبحث عن فرصة، هناك تعلّم، أعاد بناء ثقته بنفسه، وبدأت روحه تتفتح، تفوق في شهادة البكالوريا، واليوم يتابع دراسته في كلية #الحقوق.
مصطفى اختار القانون ليكون صوته، وعقله، وطريقه نحو العدالة ليمضي بخطوات ثابتة نحو حلمه بأن يصبح محامياً ناجحاً. حلمٌ لا يشبه غيره، لأنه وُلِد مُتعباً، ونما في بيئة آمنت به قبل أن يؤمن هو بنفسه.

Mustafa Mohammed arrived at the Community Hub with hesitant steps. He did not enter just as a student, but as a person searching for an opportunity. There, he learned, rebuilt his self-confidence, and his spirit began to blossom. He excelled in his highschool exams, and today he is pursuing his studies at the Faculty of .

For this reason, the Syrian Development Organization works through the “Insightful Hearts” and “Merciful Hearts” centers in to provide care, education, and empowerment for visually impaired individuals and people with disabilities. We open the doors for them to develop their abilities and to live with joy, confidence, and equal rights.

عبّروا عن أنفسهم بطريقتهم الخاصة، ضمن مساحة آمنة دون قيود أو خوف.
في منارة قطنا المجتمعية شاركنا الأطفال من معرضاً فنياً صغيراً بحجمه، كبيراً بما حمله من مشاعر، لمنح الأطفال حقوقهم وليشعروا أن اختلافهم مصدر قوة لا سبب تمييز.

They drew their imagination, their environment, their dreams…
They expressed themselves in their own way, within a safe space, without restrictions or fear.
At Community Hub, we shared a small art exhibition with children with , small in size, but big in the emotions it carried, to grant children their rights and make them feel that their differences are a source of strength, not a reason for discrimination.
