في اليوم العالمي للعمل الإنساني، نتذكّر أن كل فعل إنساني قادر أن يصنع فرقاً… وأن السلام يبدأ من الإنسان.

في منظمة نون لبناء السلام، نؤمن أن تمكين الشباب ليس مجرد أهداف، بل خطوات أساسية نحو مجتمع أكثر سلاماً وإنسانية.

لأن بناء السلام يبدأ بخطوة إنسانية… ويكبر عندما نصنعها معاً

On World Humanitarian Day, we are reminded that every humanitarian act has the power to make a difference, and that peace begins with people.

At NUON Organization for Peace-building, we believe that empowering youth is not merely an objective, but a fundamental step towards building a more peaceful and humane society.

Because peacebuilding begins with a humanitarian act, and grows when we build it together.

ماذا يرى العالم في الشباب؟

يرى البعض في الشباب أرقاماً وإحصاءات،
ويراهم آخرون طاقةً وأفكاراً جديدة.
لكن الشباب ليسوا رقماً في تقرير، ولا فئةً عمريةً فقط.

إنهم تجارب، وأسئلة، وطموحات، وطرق مختلفة لرؤية العالم.
لكل شاب وشابة قصة، ووجهة نظر، وطريقة خاصة في النظر إلى ما حولهم.

وفي اليوم الدولي للشباب، نؤمن في نون بأن البداية تكون بالإنصات؛ أن نمنح هذه الأصوات مساحةً لتُسمع، وأن نرى الشباب بما يتجاوز الأرقام والتصنيفات.
لأن فهم الشباب يبدأ حين نستمع إلى ما يرونه هم.

What does the world see in youth?

Some see youth as numbers and statistics,
while others see them as energy and new ideas.

But youth are not just numbers in a report, nor merely an age group.
They are experiences, questions, ambitions, and different ways of seeing the world.

Every young person has a story, a perspective, and a unique way of seeing the world around them.

On International Youth Day, NUON believes that it all begins with listening; giving these voices space to be heard, and seeing youth beyond numbers and labels.

Because understanding youth begins when we listen to what they see.

السلام ليس هدفاً نصل إليه في النهاية، وإنما قيمة تتشكل في تفاصيل حياتنا اليومية.

في الطريقة التي نستمع بها، نتحاور، نتعاون، ونمنح فيها مساحة للاختلاف باحترام.

فكل ممارسة إيجابيّة اليوم، هي استثمار في مجتمع أكثر تماسكاً غداً.

في نون، نؤمن بأن الاستثمار الحقيقي في السلام يبدأ بالاستثمار في الإنسان، وفي المساحات التي تجمعه بالآخرين على أساس الحوار والاحترام والمشاركة.

بدعم من منظمة نون لبناء السلام نفّذ مجموعة من الشباب والشابات "اللجنة الشبابيّة " مبادرة "جسور الشباب" في ريف دمشق، ضمن مشروع "تعزيز التماسك المجتمعي ومشاركة الشباب/ات في محاولة وضع السياسات من أجل سلام مستدام في سوريا" ولتعزيز مشاركة الشباب/ات بإتخاذ القرار على الصعيد المحلي.

جاءت المبادرة استجابة لاحتياجات المجتمع المحلّي، واعتمدت على جلسات حوارية فتحت قنوات التواصل بين الفئات الشابة والسلطات المحلية.

وتُجسّد المبادرة دور الشباب والشابات في قيادة مبادرات مجتمعية تنطلق من واقعهم، وتسعى إلى إحداث أثر إيجابي ومستدام من خلال العمل التشاركي والمشاركة المدنيّة.

Supported by NUON Organization for Peacebuilding, a group of youth from the “Youth Committee” implemented the “Youth Bridges” initiative in Rural Damascus, as part of the project “Enhancing Social Cohesion and Youth Participation in Policy-Making for Sustainable Peace in Syria,” with the aim of strengthening youth engagement in local decision-making processes.

The initiative was developed in response to the needs of the local community and was built around dialogue sessions that facilitated communication channels between youth and local authorities.

The initiative highlights the role of youth in leading community-based initiatives rooted in their own contexts, aiming to create positive and sustainable impact through participatory action and civic engagement.

في كل مرحلة من مراحل التغيير، كان للشباب دورٌ حاسم في إعادة رسم ملامح المستقبل.

حول العالم، يقود الشباب مبادراتٍ أحدثت أثرا حقيقيا في مجالات الابتكار، وريادة الأعمال، والعمل الإنساني، وصناعة السياسات، وحماية البيئة، وبناء السلام. ولم تكن أعمارهم يوما معيارا لقدرتهم على الإنجاز، بل كانت رؤيتهم، وإصرارهم، وإيمانهم بإمكانية التغيير.

إن الاستثمار في قدرات الشباب لا يقتصر على توفير الفرص لهم، بل يمتد إلى إشراكهم في صناعة القرار، وتعزيز مهاراتهم، وتهيئة المساحات التي تمكنهم من تحويل الأفكار إلى مبادرات، والتحديات إلى حلول.

وفي نون، نرى في كل شاب وشابة قدرة تستحق أن تجد فرصتها، وصوتا يستحق أن يُسمع، ودورا يستحق أن يكون جزءا من صناعة مستقبل أكثر سلاما وتماسكا.

Throughout every stage of change, young people have played a pivotal role in shaping the future.

Across the world, youth have led initiatives that created meaningful impact in innovation, entrepreneurship, humanitarian action, policymaking, environmental protection, and peacebuilding. Their age has never defined their ability to make a difference; rather, it is their vision, determination, and belief in the possibility of change that have driven their success.

Investing in youth goes beyond providing opportunities. It means engaging them in decision-making, strengthening their skills, and creating spaces where they can transform ideas into initiatives and challenges into solutions.

At NUON, we believe that every young person has potential that deserves the opportunity to thrive, a voice that deserves to be heard, and a role to play in building a more peaceful and cohesive future.

ضمن مشروع تعزيز التماسك المجتمعي ومشاركة الشباب/ات في محاولة وضع سياسات من أجل سلام مستدام في سوريا، استمرّت تدريباتنا من خلال تدريب تناول الدستور والحساسية الجندريّة في الدساتير.

وخلال التدريب، تم نقاش مجموعة من المفاهيم المرتبطة بالحقوق الدستوريّة وأهمية مراعاة العدالة والمساواة في النصوص القانونيّة والسياسات العامة.

وتناول التدريب تجارب دستوريّة مختلفة، وما تتضمنه من مقاربات تتعلّق بحقوق المرأة ومشاركتها، إلى جانب التحديات والثغرات التي ما تزال قائمة، والحاجة إلى تطوير تشريعات أكثر استجابة لاحتياجات جميع أفراد المجتمع.
كما شكّل التدريب مساحة لتبادل الأفكار والخبرات، ولفهم العلاقة بين النصوص الدستورية والواقع الاجتماعي، ودور القوانين في تعزيز المشاركة والإنصاف وحماية الحقوق.

في نون، نؤمن بأهميّة تعزيز الوعي القانوني وفتح مساحات للنقاش حول القضايا التي تمس حقوق الأفراد ومشاركتهم الفاعلة في المجتمع.

As part of the Community Cohesion and Youth Participation in Policymaking for Sustainable Peace in Syria project, our activities continued with a training on constitutions and gender sensitivity in constitutional frameworks.

During the training, participants discussed a range of concepts related to constitutional rights and the importance of promoting justice and equality in legal texts and public policies.

The training also explored different constitutional experiences and approaches to women's rights and participation, as well as the challenges and gaps that still exist, highlighting the need to develop legislation that is more responsive to the needs of all members of society.

It also provided a space for exchanging ideas and experiences, and for gaining a deeper understanding of the relationship between constitutional provisions and social realities, as well as the role of laws in promoting participation, equity, and the protection of rights.

At NUON, we believe in the importance of strengthening legal awareness and creating spaces for dialogue on issues that affect individuals' rights and their active participation in society.

في اليوم الدولي لمساندة ضحايا التعذيب، نستحضر قصص أشخاص حُرموا من أبسط حقوقهم الإنسانية، وتحمّلوا تجارب تركت آثارها على حياتهم وذاكرتهم وشعورهم بالأمان.

فالتعذيب لا ينتهي بانتهاء لحظته، بل قد يمتد أثره إلى سنوات طويلة، ويطال قدرة الإنسان على استعادة حياته وإحساسه الطبيعي بالطمأنينة والكرامة.

ومساندة الضحايا تبدأ بالاعتراف بحقهم في العدالة، وفي الحصول على الدعم والحماية والمساحات الآمنة التي تساعدهم على التعافي واستعادة حضورهم الإنساني الكامل.

وفي هذا اليوم، نؤكد أن الكرامة الإنسانية حق أصيل لكل إنسان ولا يقبل المساومة.

On the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, we reflect on the stories of individuals who have been deprived of their most fundamental human rights and endured experiences that have left lasting impacts on their lives, memories, and sense of safety.

Torture does not end when the act itself is over; its effects can endure for years, affecting a person's ability to rebuild their life and regain a sense of peace, security, and dignity.

Supporting victims begins with recognizing their right to justice, as well as ensuring access to the support, protection, and safe spaces that help them heal and reclaim their full sense of humanity.

On this day, we reaffirm that human dignity is an inherent right of every person , one that must never be compromised.

في اليوم الدولي للمرأة في العمل الدبلوماسي

نُسلّط الضوء على الدور المهم الذي تؤديه النساء في العمل الدبلوماسي، من خلال مساهمتهن في تعزيز الحوار، وبناء جسور التعاون، ودعم الجهود الرامية إلى تحقيق السلام والتنمية.

ويُشكّل هذا اليوم فرصة للتأكيد على أهمية تعزيز مشاركة النساء في مواقع صنع القرار، وتمكينهن من الإسهام بخبراتهن ورؤاهن في معالجة القضايا والتحديات التي تواجه المجتمعات حول العالم.

International Day of Women in Diplomacy

On the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, we recognize the important role women play in advancing dialogue, building bridges of cooperation, and supporting efforts to promote peace and sustainable development.

This day also provides an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of increasing women’s participation in decision-making roles and empowering them to contribute their expertise and perspectives to addressing the challenges facing communities around the world.

لماذا تُعد المبادرات الشبابية مهمة؟
لأن فئة الشباب غالباً من أكثر الفئات احتكاكاً بالتغيرات التي تحدث من حولهم، والأقرب إلى ملاحظة الاحتياجات والتحديات التي تظهر في مجتمعاتهم.

ومع هذا الاحتكاك اليومي، تتشكل لديهم أفكار ومقترحات تنطلق من واقع يعيشونه بأنفسهم، لا من تصورات بعيدة عنه.
ومن هنا تأتي أهمية المبادرات الشبابية؛ فهي تتيح تحويل هذه الأفكار إلى جهود وأنشطة تنبع من فهم مباشر لما يحتاجه المجتمع، وتسهم في تقديم استجابات أكثر قرباً من الواقع. نحن في نون، ننظر إلى الشباب والشابات بوصفهم شركاء في فهم احتياجات مجتمعاتهم والمساهمة في الاستجابة لها، ونؤمن بأن كثيراً من الأفكار والمبادرات القادرة على إحداث فرق حقيقي تبدأ عندما تتاح لهم الفرصة للمشاركة.

Why are youth initiatives important?

Because young people are often among those most exposed to the changes taking place around them and are closest to identifying the needs and challenges emerging within their communities.

Through this daily engagement, they develop ideas and suggestions rooted in the realities they experience firsthand, rather than in distant assumptions.

This is where the importance of youth initiatives lies; they provide an opportunity to transform these ideas into efforts and activities that stem from a direct understanding of community needs, contributing to responses that are more closely aligned with community realities.

At NUON, we view young women and men as partners in understanding the needs of their communities and helping address them. We believe that many of the ideas and initiatives capable of creating meaningful change begin when young people are given the opportunity to participate.

في اليوم العالمي لمكافحة خطاب الكراهية، نتذكر أن للكلمات قوة قادرة على التأثير في الأفراد والمجتمعات.

ولأن أثر الكلمات لا يتوقف عند لحظة قولها، تزداد مسؤوليتنا في التفكير بما نقوله وننشره.

في هذا اليوم، نجدّد التزامنا بنشر الخطاب الإيجابي، والتصدي لخطاب الكراهية والتحريض، والمساهمة في خلق فضاءات آمنة قائمة على الاحترام المتبادل وتتيح للجميع الشعور بالانتماء.

On the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, we are reminded that words have the power to influence individuals and communities.

As the impact of words extends beyond the moment they are spoken, our responsibility to be mindful of what we say and share becomes even greater.

On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting positive discourse, countering hate speech and incitement, and contributing to the creation of safe and inclusive spaces built on mutual respect, where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
