في اليوم العالمي للتنوع الثقافي من أجل الحوار والتنمية نتذكر أن اختلاف الثقافات ليس شيئاً يسبّب الانقسام، بل مصدر قوة وغنى للمجتمعات.
فالتنوع لا يقتصر على العادات أو اللغات أو الموروثات المختلفة، بل يمتد ليشمل الأفكار والتجارب وطرق التعبير التي تُسهم في بناء مجتمعات أكثر غنى وحيوية.

عندما نفتح المجال للحوار، ونعزز قيم الاحترام والتفاهم، يصبح الاختلاف فرصة لبناء جسور التواصل، وتعزيز التعايش، وصناعة مستقبل أكثر شمولاً للجميع.

On World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, we are reminded that cultural differences are not a cause of division, but rather a source of strength and richness for societies.

Cultural diversity is not limited to different customs, languages, or heritage; it also encompasses ideas, experiences, and expressions that contribute to building richer and more vibrant communities.

When we create space for dialogue and promote the values of respect and understanding, differences become an opportunity to build bridges of communication, strengthen coexistence, and build a more inclusive future for all.

من الفكرة إلى الخطوة الأولى

خلال الجلسات، عمل الشباب/ات على تطوير تصوّراتهم وتحويلها إلى مبادرات أكثر وضوحاً وقابلية للتطبيق،
من خلال أنشطة جماعية ساعدت على تنظيم الأفكار، وقراءة التحديات من زوايا مختلفة، والتفكير بحلول أكثر ارتباطاً بالواقع.

كما أتاحت التجارب العملية فرصة لإعادة النظر في العديد من الأفكار، وتطويرها بصورة أقرب للاحتياجات الفعلية، بما يساهم في بناء تصوّرات تحمل إمكانية إحداث أثر حقيقي.

فالخطوات الأولى لأي مبادرة لا تبدأ دائماً بخطط كبيرة،
بل بمحاولة لفهم الاحتياج الحقيقي ، وبفكرة تجد من يعمل عليها.

From an Idea to the First Step

During the sessions, youth worked on developing their ideas and turning them into clearer and more actionable initiatives,
through group activities that helped organize ideas, examine challenges from different perspectives, and explore solutions that are more closely connected to reality.

The practical experiences also provided an opportunity to revisit and refine many ideas, shaping them in ways that better reflect actual needs and contribute to developing initiatives with the potential to create meaningful impact.

Because the first steps of any initiative do not always begin with large plans,
but with a genuine attempt to understand the need, and an idea that finds people willing to work on it.

كيف تتحوّل الأفكار إلى تأثير؟

عندما يعمل الشباب/ات معاً على قراءة التحديات وفهم احتياجات مجتمعهم،
تبدأ الأفكار بأخذ شكل أوضح وأكثر قابلية للتطبيق.

وخلال الجلسات، ساهمت الأنشطة والتجارب الجماعيّة في خلق بيئة تشجّع على التفكير البنّاء، وتحفّز روح المبادرة والعمل الجماعي،
وتدفع نحو تطوير تصوّرات تحمل أثراً ملموساً مستداماً في المجتمع.

لأن التغيير لا يبدأ دائما بخطوات كبيرة، بل بفكرة تُمنح فرصة للنمو.

How do ideas turn into impact?

When youth work together to identify challenges and better understand the needs of their communities,
ideas begin to take clearer shape and become more actionable.

Throughout the sessions, activities and collaborative experiences helped create an environment that encourages constructive thinking, fosters initiative and teamwork,
and supports the development of ideas that can create a tangible and sustainable impact in their communities.

Because change does not always begin with big steps, but with an idea that is given the opportunity to grow.

لأن التغيير يبدأ من المساحات التي تجمعهم/ن،
تستمر جلسات التدريب ضمن مشروع تعزيز التماسك المجتمعي ومشاركة الشباب/ات في محاولة وضع السياسات من أجل سلامٍ مستدام في سوريا.

كجزء من مساحة تفاعلية تتيح تبادل الأفكار والخبرات،
وتعزز المشاركة، والحوار، والعمل الجماعي.

تؤمن نون بأن إشراك الشباب/ات في مساحات التعلم والتفاعل
يشكّل خطوة أساسية نحو بناء مجتمعات أكثر تماسكًا وقدرة على المشاركة والتأثير الإيجابي.

Because change begins in the spaces that bring them together,
the training sessions continue within the project “Enhancing Social Cohesion and Youth Participation in an attempt to develop policies for sustainable peace”

As part of an interactive space that encourages the exchange of ideas and experiences,
the sessions promote participation, dialogue, and collective work.

Nuon believes that engaging youth in spaces of learning and interaction
is a fundamental step toward building more cohesive communities with greater capacity for participation and positive impact.

حين يتحوّل التعلّم إلى تجربة حيّة،
تُبنى مساحات قائمة على الحوار، والتجربة، والعمل المشترك.

ضمن تدريب مهارات الحياة، شكّلت اللقاءات مساحة يلتقي فيها الشباب/ات،
ليتبادلوا الأفكار، ويختبروا مهاراتهم،
ويخوضوا تجارب قائمة على المشاركة والتفاعل.

ما يحدث داخل هذه المساحات لا يقتصر على التعلّم فقط،
بل يمتد ليخلق فهماً أعمق،
ويعزّز القدرة على العمل مع الآخرين،
وبناء علاقات قائمة على الاحترام والتفاهم.

When learning becomes a lived experience,
spaces are shaped by dialogue, practice, and collaboration.

Through the Life Skills training, these sessions created a space where youth came together
to exchange ideas, test their skills,
and engage in participatory, interactive experiences.

What takes place in these spaces goes beyond learning,
fostering deeper understanding,
strengthening the ability to work with others,
and building relationships grounded in respect and mutual understanding.

بين الشرح والتجربة، تشكّلت هذه الجلسات من لحظات عمل مشتركة،
حيث تولّى المشاركون/ات تقديم أفكارهم وشرحها ضمن مجموعاتهم.

الأنشطة لم تكن مجرد مهام،
بل مساحة لاختبار طرق التفكير والعمل مع الآخرين،
واكتشاف كيف يمكن لكل صوت أن يضيف شيئاً مختلفاً داخل الفريق.

من خلال النقاش والتطبيق،
تكوّنت تجارب ، تحمل أثرا حقيقيا،
وتعكس أهمية التعلّم القائم على المشاركة.

In these sessions, moments of explanation and practice came together,
as participants took the lead in presenting and sharing their ideas within their groups.

The activities were more than just tasks,
they became an opportunity to explore new ways of thinking and collaborating,
and to see how each voice can bring something unique to the group.

Through discussion and hands-on engagement,
small moments turned into meaningful experiences,
highlighting the value of learning through participation.

في هذه الجلسات اجتمع الشباب/ات في مساحة حوارية تفاعلية لمناقشة واحدة من أكثر القضايا تأثيراً في مجتمعاتنا اليوم ،خطاب الكراهية .

خلال الجلسات، لم يكتفِ المشاركون/ات بتعريف خطاب الكراهية،
بل عملوا على تفكيكه، ومقارنته بحرية التعبير،
من خلال أمثلة واقعية ونقاشات مفتوحة.

ناقشوا:

متى يتحول الرأي إلى أذى؟
كيف يمكن للكلمات أن تعمّق الانقسام؟
وما دور كل فرد في الحد من هذا الخطاب؟

كما خاض المشاركون/ات أنشطة تفاعلية ساعدتهم على اختبار الحدود بين حرية التعبير وخطاب الكراهية،
وتبادلوا تجاربهم/ن وآراءهم/ ن ضمن بيئة قائمة على الاحترام والانفتاح.

In these sessions, youth came together in an interactive dialogue space to discuss one of the most pressing issues affecting our communities today: hate speech.

During the sessions, participants did not limit themselves to defining hate speech,
but worked on unpacking it and comparing it to freedom of expression
through real-life examples and open discussions.

They explored:

When does an opinion turn into harm?
How can words deepen division?
What is the role of each individual in addressing this issue?

Participants also engaged in interactive activities that helped them examine the boundaries between freedom of expression and hate speech,
while sharing their experiences and perspectives in a space grounded in respect and openness.

هل كل ما نقوله يُعتبر حرية تعبير؟
أم أن بعض الكلمات قد تتحول إلى خطاب كراهية؟

في جلساتنا الأخيرة، ناقش الشباب/ات هذا السؤال بجرأة.
النقطة التي اتفق عليها الجميع: ليست المشكلة في الفكرة… بل كيف نقولها

يمكنك أن تنتقد،
أن تختلف،
أن ترفض…
لكن دون أن تؤذي أو تُقصي.

خلال الجلسات، لم يكن الشباب/ات متلقّين،
بل كانوا يقودون النقاش: يفكّكون المفاهيم، يطرحون أمثلة، ويختبرون الحدود بين حرية التعبير وخطاب الكراهية.

لأن الكلمة إمّا أن تبني مساحة مشتركة، أو تعمّق الانقسام.

Is everything we say considered freedom of expression?
Or can some words turn into hate speech?

In our recent sessions, youth engaged with this question openly and thoughtfully.

The key takeaway:
It’s not the idea itself…
but how we choose to express it.

You can criticize,
disagree,
or even reject…
but without causing harm or excluding others.

During the sessions, youth were not just participants,
they were leading the conversation:
unpacking concepts, sharing examples,
and exploring the boundaries between freedom of expression and hate speech.

Because words can either create shared space…
or deepen division.

ضمن مشروع تعزيز التماسك المجتمعي ومشاركة الشباب/ات في وضع السياسات من أجل سلامٍ مستدام في سوريا،
انطلقت جلسات تدريب حقوق الإنسان.

تناولت الجلسات مفاهيم أساسية حول حقوق الإنسان،
ومعاني الحق، وعلاقتها بالقانون، والتمييز بين القانون والأخلاق،
إضافةً إلى نقاشات حول الضمير والإيمان ودورهما في تشكيل الوعي الفردي.

وفي الجلسات، لم يكن الشباب/ات متلقّين/ات فقط،
بل شركاء فاعلين/ات في النقاش، يطرحون/ن الأسئلة ويساهمن/ون في تعميق الفهم.

لأن الوعي بالحقوق هو الخطوة الأولى نحو التأثير،
ونحو دورٍ أكبر للشباب/ات في بناء مجتمعات أكثر عدلاً وتماسكاً.

As part of the project to enhance social cohesion and youth participation in policymaking for sustainable peace in Syria, a series of Human Rights training sessions was launched.

The sessions introduced key human rights concepts, including the meaning of rights, their relationship to law, and the distinction between law and ethics. They also explored the role of conscience and faith in shaping individual awareness.

Throughout the sessions, young people were not merely participants, but active contributors, raising questions and enriching the dialogue.

Because awareness of rights is the first step toward meaningful change, and toward strengthening the role of youth in building more just and cohesive societies.

في إطار مشروع تعزيز التماسك المجتمعي ومشاركة الشباب/ات في وضع السياسات من أجل سلامٍ مستدام في سوريا،
لا تكون الجلسات مجرّد لقاءات…
بل فرصاً لإعادة التفكير، وفهم الآخر، وإتاحة المجال لأصواتٍ ربما لم تُسمَع من قبل.

الشباب/ات اليوم لا يكتفون بالمشاركة فحسب…
بل يُسهمن/ون في إعادة تعريف دورهم/ن داخل مجتمعاتهم/ن،
من خلال النقاش، وطرح الأسئلة، وتحدّي الأفكار النمطية.

من هنا يبدأ التغيير الحقيقي:
حين يتحوّل الاختلاف من سببٍ للانقسام… إلى فرصةٍ للفهم والعمل المشترك.

في هذه الجلسات، نلمس كيف يمكن للحوار أن يكون أداة:
– لتقريب وجهات النظر
– لبناء ثقة حقيقية بين الأفراد
– ولتعزيز وعيٍ بدور كل فرد في مجتمعه/ا

لأن بناء السلام ليس فكرةً نظرية…
بل ممارسة يومية، يقودها شبابٌ وشابات يمتلكن/ون الجرأة على التعبير، والاستماع، والعمل معاً.

but opportunities to rethink, understand others, and create space for voices that may have never been heard before.

Young people today are not just participating…
they are actively redefining their roles within their communities

In these sessions, we witness how dialogue can serve as a tool:
– to bring perspectives closer
– to build genuine trust among individuals
– and to strengthen awareness of each person’s role within their community

Because peacebuilding is not merely a theoretical concept…
it is a daily practice, led by young women and men who have the courage to speak, listen, and work together.

في أجواء حوارية تفاعلية، شكّلت هذه الجلسة مساحة للانتقال من العمل الجماعي إلى التعمّق في الشق البحثي للمشروع، بهدف فهم السياق المحلي في المنطقة بشكل أوسع، وتحليل واقع التماسك المجتمعي من خلال تجارب وآراء المشاركين/ات.

كما تبادل الشباب/ات وجهات نظرهم/ن حول مفهوم التماسك المجتمعي، مؤكدين على قيم الثقة، والاحترام، والتعايش رغم الاختلاف، إلى جانب تسليط الضوء على دورهم/ن وأهمية تعزيز مشاركتهم/ن في إحداث التغيير داخل مجتمعهم/ن.

وعكس النقاش أهمية توسيع مساحات الحوار وتعزيز العمل المشترك، بما يرسّخ قيم التفاهم والتعايش بين مختلف مكونات المجتمع.

In a dynamic and interactive atmosphere, this session served as a space to transition from collective work into a deeper exploration of the project’s research component, aiming to gain a broader understanding of the local context in the targeted area and to analyze the current state of social cohesion through the experiences and perspectives of participants.

Youth also exchanged their views on the concept of social cohesion, emphasizing values of trust, respect, and coexistence despite differences, while highlighting their role and the importance of strengthening their participation in driving change within their communities.

The discussion reflected the importance of expanding spaces for dialogue and strengthening collective action, in a way that reinforces values of understanding and coexistence among different components of society.
