🚨 SHOCKING DETAILS EMERGE AFTER SHIP COLLISION IN THE SEA OF MARMARA

Officer on watch was reportedly not on the bridge at the time of the collision involving TUGBERK İMAMOĞLU and ALSU.

New statements given during the investigation into the collision off Silivri in the Sea of Marmara have revealed further details surrounding the incident, which resulted in the sinking of the Turkish vessel TUGBERK İMAMOĞLU.

According to the investigation, the two Turkish vessels TUGBERK İMAMOĞLU and ALSU collided, while search operations are continuing for 10 crew members from the sunken vessel.

Statements provided during the investigation indicated that only three persons were reportedly on the bridge at the time of the incident, including the Master and the Officer of the Watch, with no officially assigned lookout or helmsman present.

Captain Ahmet Arslan reportedly stated that he was not on the bridge when the collision occurred and was resting in his cabin, while the lookout was also absent from the bridge.

Investigators also found that Officer of the Watch Murat Egemen had joined the vessel only two days before the incident and was assigned the 00:00–04:00 watch.

Reports further indicated that timely action may not have been taken to avoid the collision, including reducing speed, stopping the engines, or carrying out sufficient avoiding manoeuvres.

In another development, Egemen stated that Second Captain Barış Hazar came to the bridge after the collision and carried out manoeuvres in an attempt to separate the vessel from the other ship.

The court has reportedly released four suspects under judicial supervision, while investigations remain ongoing to determine the full circumstances and responsibilities surrounding the incident.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most strategically important waterways in the world. This narrow passage connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and serves as the main maritime gateway for energy exports from the Gulf region.

Around one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes through this strait every day, transported by tankers from major producers such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, and Qatar. Because of this, the Strait of Hormuz plays a critical role in maintaining global energy security and stability in international markets.

Navigation in the strait is organized through a Traffic Separation Scheme to ensure safe passage for the large number of vessels transiting the area. Maritime authorities of Iran and Oman oversee the surrounding waters, while international shipping follows regulations established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Due to its narrow geography and massive economic importance, the Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most vital maritime chokepoints. Any disruption to shipping in this passage can have immediate effects on global oil prices and international trade.

Umm Qasr Port – Iraq 🇮🇶
First bulk carrier entered this jetty since 2015.
A moment that carries more than cargo… it carries hope.
After years of silence, the docks breathe again.
Steel meets water, and history turns a new page.
We hope to see our beloved Iraq rise, develop, and shine brighter than ever.
May every berth be filled, every crane in motion, and every horizon open to opportunity.
Iraq deserves to flourish — and this is just the beginning. 🌅🇮🇶
