Supporting Families, Restoring Strength in Shlash
In the outskirts of Ar-Raqqa, hundreds of families in the Shlash informal settlement face harsh living conditions, yet their resilience never fades.
From January to April, DanChurchAid (DCA) with support from Danida has been helping children and families regain a sense of safety and hope through psychosocial support and protection activities.
In art and music sessions, children they once couldnโt put into words.
In , parents learn new ways to and support their children.
For those who need it most, individual case management ensures no one is left behind.
โI feel creative when I draw, it makes me feel like an artist,โ says 13-year-old Fatima, smiling as he sketches his dreams.
Between January and April 2025, DCAโs work in Shlash reached over 1,300 people, including:
450 children through psychosocial support
520 adults through awareness sessions
55 people through individual case management
320 adolescents through art and music activities
In a place marked by hardship, every drawing, song, and smile is a sign of healing and a reminder that hope can grow even in the toughest conditions.
