حدائق التين Dar Ebla for Art and Culture

In Masyaf, Syria, a group of women came together to transform an old, rundown house into a vibrant space for women and the wider community.

Through their collective efforts, they restored the house and brought Dar Kafwe to life, a space that now hosts cultural and social initiatives, including Wafa Choir, libraries open to everyone, and opportunities for dialogue, learning, and community gatherings.

Dar Kafwe is more than a restored house. It is a powerful example of how Syria’s women, through their determination, skills, and collective action, can bring people together and create meaningful change in their communities.

اجتمعت مجموعة من النساء في مدينة مصياف في سوريا لتحويل منزل قديم ومتهالك إلى مساحة نابضة بالحياة للنساء والمجتمع المحلي.

بجهودهن الجماعية، رمّمت النساء المنزل وأعدن إليه الحياة ليصبح دار كفوة مساحة تحتضن اليوم مبادرات ثقافية واجتماعية، من بينها كورال وفا ومكتبات مفتوحة للجميع ومساحات للحوار والتعلّم واللقاءات المجتمعية.

دار كفوة ليست مجرد منزل جرى ترميمه، بل مثال حيّ على قدرة نساء سوريا، بإصرارهن وخبراتهن وعملهن الجماعي، على جمع الناس وإحداث تغيير حقيقي في مجتمعاتهن.

People in Syria continue to protest across the country to demand social and economic rights following a decision by the transitional authorities to increase fuel prices, which will only worsen the living situation for the majority.

Raed Fares believed deeply in freedom of expression, in the power of art, and in the role of civil society in challenging oppression and building a freer Syria.

His ideas feel especially important today, at a time when art and civic spaces in Syria are once again shrinking under oppression, and those who speak out are facing growing pressure.

Years after Raed and his colleagues were killed by armed men believed to be affiliated with HTS, their belief in a free and vibrant civic space lives on, and so does the demand for truth and justice for them.

آمن رائد فارس إيماناً عميقاً بحرية التعبير، وبقوة الفن، وبدور المجتمع المدني في مواجهة القمع وبناء سوريا أكثر حرية.

وتبدو أفكاره اليوم أكثر أهمية من أي وقت مضى، في وقت تضيق فيه مجدداً مساحات الفن والعمل المدني في سوريا تحت وطأة القمع، ويتعرض فيه من يرفعون أصواتهم لضغوط متزايدة.

بعد سنوات على مقتل رائد وزملائه على يد مسلحين يعتقد أنهم مرتبطون بهيئة تحرير الشام، ما زال إيمانهم بمساحة مدنية حرة وحيوية حاضراً، وما زال مطلب الحقيقة والعدالة لهم قائماً.

The Assad regime forcibly separated thousands of children from their families and placed many of them in orphanages and regime-linked institutions, including organizations associated with Asmaa Al-Assad, in an attempt to erase their names, family ties, and identities.

Today, these children remain missing, with their families still struggling to find them. Stand by the families’ demands for truth and justice and write them a message of solidarity (find the link in our bio).

فصل نظام الأسد آلاف الأطفال قسراً عن عائلاتهم، ووضع العديد منهم في دور أيتام ومؤسسات مرتبطة به، بينها مؤسسات ارتبطت بأسماء الأسد، في محاولة لمحو أسمائهم وروابطهم العائلية وهوياتهم.

Another young Syrian was killed after being tortured in police custody.

Mohamed Ghamira, a 29-year-old former White Helmets volunteer, died after being beaten during his detention at a police station in Al-Haffeh, Lattakia.

His killing cannot be reduced to a “mistake” followed by another promised investigation. Torture and arbitrary detention must end and accountability must begin.
