Paying It Forward will be a learning center that will focus on the development of a Community Building culture, which is uncommon in El Salvador. Community Building means to volunteer for the community without expecting anything back. Paying It Forward will also provide knowledge of English and Computer skills through intensive Saturday classes, as a “hook” to attract students. All our classes wil
l be American-Based. Our books are some of the most effective in the market. We are run by volunteers, unlike our competitors which are run by paid teachers. All of our classes will be taught on Saturdays, which allows students to have more time on weekdays so they don’t feel pressured because they have to attend high school or college and Paying It Forward in the same day. Another very important advantage of our learning center is the fact that we do not ask for any money to the students. Classes are free, and are financed by donors and sponsors. In order to keep running this program, we need sponsors and donors to fund us with around $10,000 annually. However, we will need $15,000 to cover all our startup expenses for the first year. It is very important for El Salvador to start learning English and computer skills, as well as volunteerism. Nevertheless, it does not seem like more organizations will be providing more of these important skills. If so, many of them are still being very expensive to afford. For instance, if we take a look at the EF English Proficiency Index - Third Edition; it clearly shows how English proficiency in El Salvador is currently getting lower and lower every year. Job opportunities in El Salvador are very limited. Paying It Forward wants to address the lack of the volunteering culture in El Salvador, as well as, the lack of education and job opportunities. We will help people who do not have any vision on personal development or money to pay for English or computer classes, since they are very expensive. Studying two years with us, they will get enough English, computer, and personal development skills to get a job. After they get a job, they will be able to pay for college. We will analyze each student’s information to make sure they have no help to study. We, also want to start a process to be accredited by the government so we can issue valid diplomas for students at the end of the two years.
